No, I'm sure the GoDaddy Bowl will still be around. It draws well. However, they will probably stop inviting us and go back to their favorite Ohio teams.

P.S. Humanitarian Bowl is still there. Just a different name.

How many tickets at the GoDaddy were freebies to locals just to fill the stands?

Pretty tough when the game starts at 9 pm Eastern, regardless of anything else.

1) Late start to the game
2) Game was on a Sunday night
3) NFL Games played during the day so people do not care to watch 2 mid majors playing.

All things working against getting a good rating for the bowl game.
I think if the game starts 2 hours earlier the ratings are much better.

Game had a great turnout. Local business buy tix and give them away to locals.

You obviously weren't there.

I was floored watching it on TV just how electric the atmosphere was. Did not expect that at all.

RE: TV ratings for bowl games - Ouch!
Date and game scheduling factored to hurt several bowls in TV ratings.

This game could have been played Sat nite 1/7 instead of Sun 1/8 at the same start time and the ratings would have been much higher. There was no other college or pro football on sat nite 1/7 and only one other bowl game that day at 11AM.

There were also no bowl games scheduled Fri 12/23 and only 1 scheduled on Sat 12/24 (7PM) while there were 2 games played on Tues 12/27, 2 on Wed 12/28, 2 on TH 12/29, 4 on Fri 12/30 5 on Sat 12/31 and 6 on 1/2/12.

When bowl committees skip over open Friday and Saturday dates and instead choose to schedule midweek afternoon starts or against multiple other bowls on 12/30, 12/31 & 1/2 or a late nite Sunday start time they get the ratings decline they deserve.

That's wrong. Detroit and NO were playing.
