Who made that choice for you?

Torch, I didn't know you were OK with Americans being taxed without representation.

Edit: I'd be perfectly happy to either 1) not pay taxes or 2) vote as part of Maryland.

I support #2. I'm only "happy" w/ Americans being taxed w/o representation b/c they refuse to accept a reasonable plan for representation. When the "DC Statehood" voices are drowned out by reason, then maybe the solution can be achieved.

DC should not be a state. The residents already have too much power over the political process of the federal government. That's a large part of the reason why it was specifically made a territory in the first place.

DC is not a state, and should never become a state, so it should not have Senators. I do support DC getting 3 voting Representatives in the House, however, so that the citizens of the nation's capital will actually have individuals looking out for their interests in Congress.

I also support expanding the House of Representatives to 600 members from the current 435. The nation's population has nearly tripled since the 1950s, and more Congressmen are needed to actually do the work needed by citizens of their states, rather than taking bribes.

A larger House would not eliminate corruption, but it would become a lot more expensive, and require many more bribes. A larger House would get rid of most Gerrymandering since districts would be smaller. Repeats of the 2000 Electoral Disaster also become less likely.

QFT. On top of that I'd say let the popular vote elect the President plain and simple.

Tabled does not equal dead. Beware of these sneaky crooks waiting until after the election to ram these crappy laws through during a Lame Duck Session. Everyone who supports a free and open internet needs to remain vigilant. This long fight is just beginning.

Corrupt corporations run by sleazy scumbags like Rupert Murdoch are in league with the government in an effort to crush the free flow of information online. The government doesn't want any more of its secrets exposed and corporations want total web control.

I am disgusted that a report on CNN quoted some idiot website poster by calling this a battle of Hollywood Millionaires against Silicon Valley Billionaires. Time-Warner, by the way, supports these freedom crushing bills. Misdirection to try obfuscating the truth.

Correct. And Rubio.

Just got an e-mail.

Quote:Dear RedState Reader,

This morning I noted that we should primary Senators and Representatives on the left and right who refuse to back away from SOPA and Protect IP.

Included in the list of sponsors, unfortunately, was Senator Marco Rubio. I would hate, hate, haaattttteeeee to primary such a great guy. We spent a lot of time, energy, effort, and money getting him elected. But SOPA/Protect IP is that bad.

Now, I’ve made clear that we wouldn’t do this unless the left was on board too and I’ve only really heard crickets from them. But it was a threat so many of us felt needed to be made to emphasize just how bad this legislation is.

Today, about an hour ago, Senator Marco Rubio of Florida showed again why he is a real leader and listener within the conservative movement. He is dropping his co-sponsorship of Protect IP.

I hope other Republicans in the Senate follow his leadership on this issue. and please call Senator Rubio’s office and thank him for his leadership. His number is (202) 224-3041. We often fight. We should also often say thanks.

Yea Rubio.

Of course maybe everyone already knew that and that's why no one mentioned him earlier. My apologies if I'm just late checking my email. 03-wink

From Facebook:

Rand Paul

I oppoe SOPA and PIPA and have been leading the charge against them for several months. I have pledged to filibuster and do everything in my power to stop government censorship of the Internet. Keep up the fight, keep up the pressure on Congress. It is working, but this fight is far from over.

Ron Paul

My campaign, and the entire freedom movement, would not be as strong as they are today without a free Internet, and that's just one of the reasons why the establishment hopes to censor it with SOPA and PIPA. I'm proud to see so many taking a stand today. Contact your representative and senators and tell them to oppose these disastrous bills.

I love being a Texan, but our state government is embarrassing. Whether its Ricky Perry or the douche that is trying to get this bill approved, or either of the George Bushs.

Why is Northern Illinois with their huge market and recent success not being considered... IMO if CUSA added Temple, NIU, and La Tech that would make CUSA a pretty salty football conference

None of this must affect Obama otherwise he'd be screaming about losing his $3 raffle tickets for lunch with him.

Pretty good results so far.

Co-sponsors withdrawing on both PIPA and SOPA.

Congressional switchboard has been overwhelmed.

Several Congressional websites are down from traffic.

The MPAA's website got hacked and defaced.

The Heritage Foundation sent notice to all of Congress they are opposed to SOPA/PIPA and that their vote on SOPA/PIPA would be a "key issue" vote and recorded on their congressional scorecard.

Liberty has carried the day for now but the fight goes on, never ending until unimpeded access to a free and open internet is guaranteed for every citizen in the United States of America, as well as those who share our values around the world.
