RE: UT-EMU game thread
Almost all of the question marks heading into this season have now been answered:
Is Pearson a MAC-quality player? Yes.
Is Matt Smith? No.
Will Delino Dear show improvement? No
Will Juice Brown be able to handle the point? Well, as a true freshman, I think he's done fine enough. Certainly best PG we've had since Kashif Payne.
Will Coach K's first real recruiting class show that we have hope? Unknown. Brown is a MAC-caliber player. Mathew is not. Moss would have been--can't blame coaching staff on health issues unless it was something that should have been known, which may explain why he wasn't really recruited hard by many schools. Same with Majerle leaving--certainly not predictable; he did look like a player who could contribute at this level.
Will UT perpetuate the "myth" that the MAC is a guard-oriented league that can be won with a 3-guard offense? No. Games so far have shown just how important it is to have some presence on the inside, offensively and defensively.
Will the Rockets be better when Dennis becomes eligible? Statistically, this has been a wash. I think we've only won 1 game since he became eligible--maybe 2?--but the quality of opponent has also been much stronger than before he was eligible, too.
I still think this team gets to 10 wins, maybe even 11. Really thought that next season would be the the one where we get to a winning season, both overall and in the MAC. Now I'm just not so sure. If Dear is a nonfactor rather than a somewhat improved player, then we just dug ourselves an even bigger hole inside for next season. I don't think the tall incoming freshman is all-MAC material just yet, so instead of recruiting more guards, I think our only hope is to use whatever scholarship(s) we do have left on the same sort of 6'7" to 6'9" players that every other school in the MAC seems to get and UT doesn't--preferably JUCO players who can contribute as soon as possible.

Box score says attendance of this game was 1,009. This game was on a Saturday might I add.
Again I'll ask the question, why is EMU still in Division 1?

It's only 30 minutes from Toledo! Why weren't there 1000 Toledo fans there?

There were 1,000 Toledo fans there. Didn't they teach you to read at BG?
