I don't care about market value as long as they are competitive.

I do think La Tech would be a good fit for Sun Belt, would save a lot of travel and could create some rivalries.

LA Tech has burned a few bridges in the Sun Belt. They make sense in the SBC, but would have one of the lowest budgets. At this point, I don't know if there is enough support for them to get an invite.

The WAC will soon implode and La Tech has burned some bridges in the Sun Belt Conference so they are running out of options (and time). Desperation might even be the right word here.

Having read their BB&B board for years they are the masters of "say it enough times and it becomes fact." Their sense of entitlement behooves any degree of logic.

If any league would bring in a school with as small a budget as La Tech has with more blueprints on the drawing board than monies they have (not) raised for those paper dreams then that is not saying much about how a league feels about its future at all.

I still don't think either league or their proposed Alliance brings any new school into their league now. I may not say that in 1-2 years, though.

I realize that. I supported Louisiana and Louisiana Tech moving in even before UCF was rumored to be joining the Big East. I just like their name and the competitiveness they bring to the game.

sigh... it was in response to your assertion that USM doesn't care about basketball.

Also, you're arguing against yourself. On the one hand, Temple is building their program, don't focus on their past. On the other, Memphis was good 5-10 years ago, we should ignore La Tech's recent success and advancements.

Pretty much how I feel. I only support La Tech because of their proximity and the fact they brought more fans to Hattiesburg during a tropical storm than Memphis, Tulane or UAB ever has.

I can understand that from a USM perspective, just that for ECU unless they are adding $$$ they don't bring us any real positives. Also C-USA already has so many teams in that general area, while ECU and Marshall are becoming more and more isolated. I'd rather add MTSU over La Tech, not that I think either are going to add money, just because they are the closest available FBS team. If C-USA would add FCS teams I'd want ODU.

RE: LaTech positions itself for C-USA membership
Since the new tv contracts are going to be coming up soon, markets will decide a lot in who will be added IMO. I think the favorites will be Temple-Philly, FIU/FAU-Miami, UNT-Dallas, USU-Salt Lake, SJSU-San Jose, UTSA-San Antonio.

I have nothing against LaTech, but right now I think our conference will be looking at large markets to better our new TV contracts. I think LaTech might still join one day, but that might not happen until we lose one or two more teams in the future and our contracts and (new) conference are more stable and finalized.

that could be said of Temple football...but Temple basketball is steeped in tradition...plus they HAVE been in a big time BCS football conference.

plus the Philly market...plus a NFL stadium...plus a great basketball arena...etc

also...if i was comparing...

Memphis football > USM basketball....IMHO

Let me repeat some key questions:

So Temple has won their conference exactly how many times?
When has expansion ever been about basketball?
How is a stadium that's 75% empty impressive?
As a fan, how does Temple's "market" matter to you?

Look, everybody gets why a Memphis fan is banging on the basketball drum, but expansion has never been about basketball, it's about football and markets. I'm sorry, I didn't make the rules. Memphis football has gotten so bad, that they were completely ignored by the Big East despite being in a good market. Also, no one is impressed by Temple's "big time BCS football conference experience", seeing how they were booted out.

Temple football > La Tech football

Seems only USM fans are supporting La Tech. Probably because 40% of all CUSA FB games La Tech has played were against USM. That, and the fact that USM would no longer be the smallest market in CUSA.

The rest of us don't care about adding a La Tech program with their awful track record in athletics and their nonexistent support in their nonexistent market.

How is a stadium that's 75% empty impressive? sure helped USF at the Bucs stadium, they're BE now...i believe Temple had 57,000 for a game this season.

Somebody needs to educate these Memphis youngsters that Louisiana Tech has a better athletic history than Memphis and most of CUSA. Just look up their athletic website and look up their history. Not hard to do before you look more like idiots than you already do.

I did and it was pathetic. Other than women's basketball (which no one here cares about), they suck across the board.

Two bowls in the last decade and zero NCAA tournament bids in the last twenty years.

You should stop making such ignorant comments when it's so easy to call you on it.
