Amon Carter Stadium renovation/rebuild update
Now that the 2011 season is over, TCU started the 2nd major phase of the Amon Carter renovation by razing the east side of the stadium. There is a lot of work to finish before the start of the 2012 season. Here are a couple shots, one of the current work in progress and a rendering of the finished product.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not, the stadium will be about the same size as the Old Amon Carter. Sure visiting fans will buy up more tickets than they did in the MWC, but I don't expect TCU to be outnumbered in games due to the fact that the stadium is simply not that large.

I hope we are never outnumbered in our own stadium. Even in the old days of the SWC I don't remember that ever happening. OTOH, it will be kinda nice to have a few thousand visiting fans there instead of the 100-500 brought by MWC teams. Some TCU people who were not around in the days that we played UT and A&M on a regular basis will be in for a very rude awakening come next year. Of course, I know that A$M is gone but OU and OSU will substitute for Aggies (only with a lot more class, I am sure of).

About 45,000 seated, but will be capable of 50,000+ with SRO. All the concourses are open to the field plus there is a large deck/standing area on top of the north end zone.

Perfect sized stadium for TCU IMO with our enrollment size at this point, don't want to leave too many tickets for Texas and Oklahoma to bring 20,000 to TCU home games.

A few from yesterday, courtesy of Stiff Arm Frog on killerfrogs.com

View from the south endzone facility

Some of the detail work on the west side, first level between the 2nd and 3rd decks is the club, second level is suites. There are also the founders suites which are for the major donors between the 1st and 2nd deck.

Working on the primary pillars for the new east side structure. They are also replacing all the benches in the lower bowl.

They are going vertical now on the new east stands. Provides some perspective as to height and how it fits with the new west side and north endzone.

RE: Amon Carter Stadium renovation/rebuild update
Yeah the structural concrete is mostly done on the east side, and the steel definitely goes up fast. Then the concrete seating sections that go on top of the steel are prefab so that goes in pretty quick as well. The east side doesn't have a club or anything so it is more basic than the west side structure.

They are also working on a lot of the west side details such as the club, suites, etc... right now but don't have any recent photos of that work.
