Conference turn around, what changed?
We have lead in 11 games, I think, at the half, so not much had to change other then finishing games. Why are we finishing now?

I still like like we have played a schedule of teams that would be in the top 2 in the sbc and just did not finish against them.

Chuck GUy coming on and taken on some of the scoring load is a big part. Jeeves getting better at rebounding.

This team has a 3rd and 4th gear left.

3rd is Jeeves developing I go to shoot.

4th is next year when leeper comes back.

Finishing games is the difference. In OOC, we would have lost the game last night and the FAU game. Why the pleasant and welcome change? Who knows exactly, but this team is definitely growing up and getting better. That's really what you want to see. A team getting better and better as the year goes on!

But to have won only two game in OOC, even against the tough schedule (and like you I am definitely in favor of continuing that type of OOC scheduling- I think its helping pay the benefits now), to now get out of the gate in conference games in record fashion winning the first 5, with 4 of those on the road at some of the toughest places in the league, is nothing short of amazing!

If you go 7 and 4 the rest of he way that gets you back to .500. We have 7 home and 4 roads if my math is right.

We had a lot of roles to get sorted out this season. It just takes a while.

I believe it's a combination of things. First of all, we have more depth. More players who can play without a severe dropoff. For instance, Reggie Fondren comes in and hits a big three point shot at ASU. Dillard comes in and hits a three as I recall. And the maturation of Will, Javes and Taggart continues. And this team is playing together. There's not one player who feels he has to dominate, as was the case last year.

That's why I think Chucky got off to a bad start. He was trying to do too much, but once he got into the flow, and obviously bought into the team concept, he's been really solid. And had Dre not been out for half the game the other night, it wouldn't have even been close.
For those of you who weren't there, he got banged in the nose and had to be treated for quite awhile. Then he got called for some very ticky fouls, and had to sit out. By the way, the officiating was pretty lousy on both ends of the floor. But it turned out to be the usual barn burner when we play at Jonesboro. We've been fortunate to pull out some really close games. 04-cheers
