Look, any success on our part is a problem for Fayetteville. Wally is in their camp, even if not on their payroll. He has a vested interest in our not succeeding.

That is absolutely crazy? The Hogs need the Demozette, just as the Demozette needs the Hogs. Whether or not they carry articles about UALR or ASU or UAPB, doesn't threaten the Hogs at all. I think there's something more than is visible to the eye. I think there's something that happened at some time that we don't know about which has caused this situation. And I don't think it's Mike Newell or whatever happened 25 years ago. That's water under the bridge. That regime is long gone, so it's something more recent. Might have been before Chris was even here, but I'm not certain of that. I would assume we'll really never know the true story. But it makes absolutely no sense at all. And sadly, I'm not looking for a change anytime soon.

I had an engagement that night, but I think you're right. I'm sure everyone has some ideas that might help, and maybe we can get together soon.

Not sure if this is part of the reason, but it may be. Wally jumped big time on the UALR bandwagon when Mike Newell was here. Newell paid for Wally to come to Hawaii with the team and he was all in after that. Chickenhawgs were down and Newell was the hot commodity. He embraced Newell and regularly jabbed at Nolan. Then Nolan starting turning things around. A co-worker told me that when Wally showed up at UAF's NCAA tournament game (Reunion Arena?) he was greated with loud chants of "Go back to UALR" by a large contingent of pig fans. No doubt he remembers that. No way he will put himself in that position again. No doubt he has gone overboard in making sure "everyone" knows he is a pig fan and no one else really matters.

Can't you support both without the other feeling slighted? The problem wasn't that he supported Mike Newell, but that he trashed Nolan, at least in the eyes of some of those fans. He could have easily defused that situation by writing a column that praised both programs, but I guess he thought it would be easier to just ignore UALR as much as he could, and throw all his support to Fayetteville.
Probably worked out well for Wally, but lousy for UALR.

We have BTH. I am satisfied.

Who Knows, who cares at this point. I get all my Sun Belt and UALR news online and our very own Burn the Horse is an excellent resource.

Locally, we need to rely on TV. The stations don't do the greatest at covering us . . . just OK . . .but they don't seem to have an agenda against us and SOMETIMES give us excellent coverage when we do something positive.
