First, I hope you guys are not going to make fun of me too badly for being from USC-Upstate. I know I'm the first fan from the school on this board, but keep in mind that we have only been D-1 a short time and really haven't had a team worthy of comment on- possibly until this year.

We lost tonight to a very good Mercer team, 73-66. We fought back from a 16-point deficit, but just couldn't get all the way back. Mercer has a lot of height and that height bothered us all night. Poor shooting is really what did us in, though. We made only 3 of 15 three-pointers (20%) and worse, only 13 of 25 free throws (52%). Simply put, we just didn't make enough shots. But take nothing away from Mercer. After seeing the Bears play tonight, and knowing that they will host the A-Sun tourney, I think they have a very legitimate shot at representing the A-Sun in the NCAAs. They were impressive-talented big guys who can shoot it.

Welcome to the board! I caught the 2nd half on ASun.tv and you describe it accurately. Upstate never quit, and almost pulled off the comeback. I'm pretty sure Upstate has never won 10 or more games in D1? I'm sure they will smash that this year. Jacksonville and Kennesaw look like they will bow out of ASUN tourney contention without a fight.

Am I drunk (which I slightly am when I posted this) or was JU picked to be in the upper tier of the conference this year?

You know it's funny...I graduated from both UCF and SU and continually wonder when SU will break the streak and finally beat UCF. I believe it's been dated since 2004 or so. This trend reminds me about how far the ASUN is from the CUSA and everyone else.

I was hoping Belmont would be an undefeated monster this year only to lose in the ASUN finals with the ASUN getting 2 bids this year. I guess that won't be happening considering their record.

Stetson is gonna start beating UCF again!! Jacksonville was definitely picked high... they look pretty sad.

Upstate and A-Sun leading score, Torrey Craig lead the Spartans with 17 points, but still had an off night. He made only 1 of 8 three-points shots in the game and also missed the front end of a couple of 1-and-1s. That really hurt. But it was nice to see that Upstate does have the potential to defeat anyone in the conference, which is a big step up for a team that only won 5 games last year and who's best D-1 season is 9 wins...the team already has tied that this year.

This is true! I remember GT Swagger you posted some pics of Upstate a while back. I remember thinking the campus scenery was beautiful and really looked nice.
