That is the Illinois OC will be from LSU--name is Billy Gonzales. He has been wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator.

Must have promised to move the ball past the 50 yard line to land the gig as the OC at Illinois. At least he only appears to have worked for an inept OC while at LSU. Illini fans are gonna be all over this hire....and not in a good way.

Most Illinois fans are happy about this hire. Gonzales' overall body of work is good. He's considered one of the best recruiters in the country. Sure, there's a little trepidation over the fact that he's yet to be an OC, but we're happy to be taking the risk over a re-tread.

Overall, Illinois fans are happy with the offensive coaches, especially with WRs coach Beatty from Vandebilt, who had success at WVU and Vandy. He's also an elite recruiter. We're excited to see what Golesh can do as well.

There haven't been any announcements regarding defensive coaches (outside of Ward and our previous DL coach...who we are thrilled to have back). It was unfortunate that Tenuta backed out, but not the end of the world.
