Realignment affect on 2012 FB schedules
We are getting close to the time that FBS schedules should be complete and waiting for tv partners to pick their games.

With Missouri and Texas A&M heading to the SEC for 2012, how will that affect the previously scheduled OOC games? An example is UTEP is supposed to be at Ole Miss on 9/8/2012. Could be affected if Ole Miss has to now rearrange their schedule to fit new conference foes. Other OOC games could also be affected throughout the SEC.

The BE is planning on having WV in the fold for 2012. What happens with both conference and OOC games if WV manages to join the Big 12 for 2012? If WV can't get to the Big 12 for 2012, what happens to Big 12 scheduling?

A potential mess is looming.

Well, the SEC has already released their schedule.

UTEP looks like a go on the 8th... http://www.olemisssports.com/sports/m-fo...11aaa.html

What happens with the B12/BEast could be a mess.

I wonder if Nienas talked with CUSA/MWC and got them to release all 5 teams for 2012- thus allowing the start of the alliance in 2012- if the Big East would agree to release WV.

Big East gets it's teams sooner. They could play in 2012 with 12 including Pitt/Syr and then get 2 more teams for 2013 to replace them.
Big 12 gets it's team sooner so they can have 10.
Alliance gets it's start sooner.

Miner, unless I miss my guess, both WVU and the Big XII have contingencies setup for either possiblity. With the situation so fluid at present, they'd be stupid not to have done so...

I think the thing that is telling about WV is the fact that they have not cancelled one of their OOC games. They have 4 scheduled- so if they were going to Big 12, they would have to cancel one of those. So, they have some doubt in the back of their minds or they would have done so already.

WVU is holding onto all 4 games for now. They will be getting out of the FSU game, but they will transfer that game to Pitt as a replacement for WVU.

"FSU athletic director Randy Spetman told the Tallahassee Democrat on Thursday that West Virginia officials have reached out to FSU about potentially cancelling the game."

Don't think we wanted to give up a home game. I don't think Marshall is going to be on the schedule much longer.
