This is gruesome!
Real Time RPI projecting us 5-24 for the season. 3-13 in conference.
I would hope they're way off in their projections, because if we have that sort of season, it will really be depressing. To add to the depression, we're currently ranked #309, while UAPB is ranked #256.
How bad can it get? And if we lose the next three games prior to coming home, where will be ranked? Even lower? Maybe strength of schedule against North Texas, Denver, and Kentucky will actually help our RPI, even if we lose all three, which is very possible. I just don't think we're as bad as our record, but we're going to have to start winning a few games, or I guess it will be proof that we are as bad as our record.03-banghead

I think I said before the ORU game, that if we lost that, we were looking at a 13 game losing streak against DI competition. Maybe catching Mitchell in only his 3rd game, with the students on break, may give us a shot at UNT. There won't be any students, or much of a crowd at Denver, since they only fill up the arena for hockey. But for whatever reason, its very hard to win at Denver. I'll just skip Kentucky. We could end our streak against FAU, because we are at home, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them win the league again although Denver and MTSU are looking real good right now. Actually, 4-9 WKU, didn't looked pretty darn good for more than 30 minutes against #4 Louisville.

For what it's worth, Denver is averaging 5198 fans a game. I don't know how Sun Belt competition will affect Middle's attendance rates, but we've currently got 4288 a game as you guys do come to Murphy Center this year. That is pretty gruesome though, 5-24 on the year? Wow

Keep in mind, that's only a projection. It changes from game to game. But right now, the only immediate possible win I see, and I'm not overly optimistic, is North Texas, and they always have good players, and playing on their home court is certainly to our disadvantage. But hopefully our guys will surprise me. Congratulations to Middle on the season they're having so far. I just wish we could start having some of those type of seasons.

It's always good whenever a SBC team has a season like we're having, it'd be great to see you guys start out 11-2 one year. I do use Real Time RPI and I do note that their projections are typically good but there are some where they're waaaaaaay off on. You guys usually have a good team, I would think you may win more than 3 conference games this year.

I'm glad to hear that about Denver, if it's accurate. My friend's son goes there and told me none of the students care about basketball, but they go to hockey games which are usually sold out. Regardless, playing there on Dec. 31, I can't imagine they'll have more than a couple of thousand, if that.

These services project future performance based upon past performance. They assume that every team will perform on average as it has in the past. Logically, the Trojans should improve more in the remainder of the season than most of the other teams. That makes me hope that the projections will miss it some.

I think most of us fans believe we are better than our record. How much better, is still hard to know. If we don't learn to handle a press or finish games, we will continue to lose close games- and I think most Sun Belt games will go down to the wire.

I think we have enough talent to win more than three Sun Belt games, but we have to keep improving, and someone has to step up at crunch time. And I would think Dre and Chucky have enough experience to break a press, but it seems like they're struggling along with everyone else. If we can't learn to break the press, we're dead in the water.
