DeLoss Dodds says 12 is ok but..................
He's also afraid that a championship game could knock Texas out of the NC game with a loss.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball...-generator

"You can be in a championship game with one team being defeated and other having four losses," Dodds said. "The pressure is all on the undefeated team. The four-loss team can knock the undefeated team out of a shot at a national championship. It happened when we were playing the playoff game. It just seems not fair to me."

That's true DeLoss and if we had a real playoff, like we should, then schools like Texas could no longer live off their reputation and would need to prove themselves every week. What a novel idea!

RE: DeLoss Dodds says 12 is ok but..................
Before worrying about Texas being knocked out of a championship game, Dodds should make sure Texas has a team that can win the Big XII. Until they can do that, worrying about a national championship is stupid...

RE: DeLoss Dodds says 12 is ok but..................
If the teams from all the other conferences can man up and play a championship game, there's no reason that the Big 12 should not. If we were unique in having an extra game that could trip up a contender, that would be different, but there's just no reason for UT to run so scared. But it's absolutely true that they need to take care of their own business before worrying about the advantages they'd accrue from the LHN, or in dodging a conference championship game.

Of course, Dodds used to be the AD at Kansas State, and he's no doubt seen the Wildcats' recent success against UT. KSU under Snyder is a helluva story, but objectively there's no reason UT should lose regularly to KSU with all the advantages they have.

I agree...but Dodds may be afraid of his ghost. Actually, I think he'd be afraid of anyone who'd have the chance for the one-game knockoff. It's a surprising attitude to me, since arrogance and UT tend to go hand-in-hand. I don't get why they'd be afraid of it.

When the Wildcat faithful kick the trash talk into high gear, it's easy to point out that replacing Snyder didn't work out too well, and he's not going to be there forever.

I's just show that he don't want his Longhorns to compete, but to have the easy road possible for UT..

What a tool..

All this is true and on top of that, don't you just get the feeling that any conference from this point forward that does not have a championship game will be irrelevant? I mean, it's like the conference championships are just kind of a step in the right direction toward those playoffs that we seem to be edging toward, albeit at a snail's pace.

If you can't beat a 4-loss team, then you have no business being in the national title game anyway.

DeLoss Dodds and Mack Brown should be fired. Texas should never have back to back crappy seasons and every time Dodds speaks he makes Texas sound like a bunch of cowardly punk b!tches.

I imagine if they play the big Texas ego card, they can probably back Texas into a corner, where the Longhorns have to agree to a conference championship game - or look like cowards to the nation...

The question will be, does OU and Texas get put into separate divisions? It would balance the league's competitiveness, but then you might have them either 1) not playing each other every year in the regular season and maybe meeting in the championship game, or 2) guarantee a cross-division game every year and risk a rematch in the championship game. If they stay in the same division they will play every year and won't have to worry about a title game rematch, but the divisions will be unbalanced competitively.

I doubt very seriously that Texas and OU would ever give up their yearly rival game. Really, they shouldn't have to either no matter how the divisions were to shake out. I am of the opinion that college football has already given up enough traditions and we should hang on to every one of them that we can. Texas vs OU is a dang good tradition.

What wrong with putting the Sooners and Longhorns in separate divisions, and still matching them up every season. The SEC has permanent cross division rivalries. Why can't the Big XII?

Its hard to make the argument to go to 12 when that kind of money is on the table per school.
