Three 23 point losses in 4 games. At least we're pretty consistent.

RE: St. Mary's thread
we desperately need another presence in the paint other than anderson if we want to stop getting blown out by 20 plus points every game.

RE: St. Mary's thread
Osemhen is soft with no post game. More fouls then points again so far this year. I thought Preston was supposed to be a good big man coach? If so, then wtf is he doing? lol. KSU needs big men that know what they are doing down low, not just projects that got by in high school just by being bigger than everyone. Osemhen is 6'9, 250lb and he didnt even average a double double in high school. smh...

RE: St. Mary's thread
We cant dump the entire team because of APR concerns. We are already down scholarships, if we dump people we will lose more scholarships.

Edited ... meant to write APR, not RPI :) Obviously....

Totally agree that Osemhen is too soft; with his big frame he should be able to push people around in the paint and really contribute to the defense but every time i get a chance to see him play he looks confused and that causes him to play hesitantly, which is something you cant afford to be when you are playing top tier programs.

How does that even work?

It is actually the APR rating, RPI is rankings for schedule and performance. Here is a quote from NCAA.com on APR

The Academic Progress Rate is an NCAA measure to track the academic achievement of Division I teams during each academic term. Each student-athlete earns one point for staying in school and one point for being academically eligible. A team’s total points are divided by points possible and multiplied by 1,000 to equal the team’s APR. Teams that fall below the minimum APR of 930 face possible sanctions ranging from scholarship reductions to more severe penalties.

RE: St. Mary's thread
@ MikeHunt: statistically speaking, that would have to be the way to go. We "had" some kids who kept their grades up, but they were dumped when it was assumed they couldn't play, wouldn't improve, and their scholarships weren't renewed.

I think there are a couple of issues: a) not enough players, therefore slimmer margin for error (b) paying for the sins of the past. Hopefully, this all turns the corner next year. We might have to get some strong necks to take the number of punches to the jaw that we're going to take this year....

Anyone heard anything regarding Coach Smith?
