What's the latest????
Is Missouri going to the SEC in 2012 and is West Virginia coming to the Big XII in 2012? Any news on the WVU lawsuit yet?

Regarding the new Big 12, TCU was a no brainer but W. Va doesn't fit into this group anymore then Boston College fitted into the ACC. It would appear that Colorado St or Houston would have fit in a lot better. Why did the Big !2 decide not to go back into the state of Colorado?

I certainly am not qualified to answer your question but I do know that there is a huge difference between Colorado and Colorado State in terms of support and facilities. Athletically, I think they are pretty evenly matched though.

RE: What's the latest????
The suit to allow WVU to leave The BEast early while the other suit plays out has been dismissed. So round one to The BEast. But that ruling also doesn't rule out WVU leaving for the Big XII next year. It just make the odds a bit longer...

The Big 12 was always a mishmash of two prior conferences that had specific identities. The Big 8 was state flagship schools, while the SWC was (after Arkansas' departure) a Texas league with a variety of public and private schools held together by geography and the unique culture that is Texas. Now that the Big 12 has started to fracture, we've had to try to find the best replacements available. TCU is a good fit for the SWC model, and has the additional benefit of having some relationships with other schools in the conference. (For example, TCU was for several decades the first game on KU's football schedule.)
WVU is geographically remote and doesn't have history with the Big 12, but they are a high profile state flagship school so they fit the old Big 8 model. For the short term, on the hoops side Bob Huggins' history in the Big 12 provides a built-in rivalry specifically with KSU, and is a hook for jump-starting rivalries with their new conference mates.
Houston would be another good candidate under the SWC model, and would help the conference in a market where aTm's departure will be felt, but even though they are not UT, I think the other schools in the conference are leery about adding too many Texas schools. Colorado State just isn't seen as a strong enough institution, particularly in a state where fan engagement is questioned by many in the first place.

It's hard to bet on something, when you'll be dead by the date of the bet.
