we are now at crunch time:

IF Kansas State loses then:

The winner of Pittsburgh/SMU will give their conference a 4 - 1 record.

IF NIU wins, the MAC will be 4 - 1. 03-cloud9

Two conferences will be .800000000 which is closer then Romney/Santorum in Iowa..

If Pitt wins, the big east will be 4-1? Wow.

For the MAC, it basically comes down to which conference you would rather share the title with: C-USA or the Big East. Personally I would rather finish ahead of C-USA and don't mind sharing with the Big East.

So, I'll be rooting for NIU and Pitt this weekend.

The privileged status was self-anointed.

Pains me to say it but we probably want CUSA to win today's game. If the Big East and MAC finish tied for best bowl record i'm sure they will give the bowl cup challenge to the BCS conference.

Eh, in any event, it will be three guys on TV who will mention it for 20 seconds and that's it. Then some folks on message boards will complain or brag about it briefly and 99% of the country won't even know a "bowl challenge cup" exists.

If we're goign to tie, I'd rather have it be against a 'better' Bc$ conference.

One good thing if SMU does win, is that it would give the non-BCS a record of 3-1 against the BCS conferences this year.

Its fun for us. Four additional non-conference wins should move the MAC past the WAC in the computer ratings which increases our BCS payout share.

The biggest takeaway from this bowl season is that Pitt and Syracuse are not going to be enough to rejuvenate the ACC and with Boise and Houston winning and ranked that will help the Big East in the future.

Conference USA can go 4-1 but the best wins are by Houston and SMU which are leaving. Outside of those two schools, Marshall beat FIU an okay win, while Southern Miss the CUSA champ eeked by Nevada.

NIU as the MAC Champ winning big against Arkansas State would make a statement.

I'm guessing SEC will finish at 6-3 .667.

If the MAC ties with CUSA then the tiebreaker should be based on best record head to head. MAC wins 1-0.

There's no other possibility. In fact, I'll just add it now.

Are you saying the MAC should have a tie-breaker because Ohio beat Marshall in the regular season?

RE: ESPN Bowl challenge Cup (results).
If the MAC goes 3-2, it was a fairly successful bowl season with MAC teams winning both of the favored games, and one upset(albeit OU was only a one point dog). NIU and stAte are closely matched, and 4-1 for us would be tremendous. I haven't been reading the thread so does that mean we will tie C-USA? And then what, like we cut the trophy in half?
