I think of the Sun Belt as SEC Lite. We are in the same region and we live off of those same schools, through their paychecks to our teams. SBC schools are finally starting to gain traction nationally.

Seeing us as SEC Lite, I see no problem pulling for the SBC when we are not against that team, and against other conferences. A win for the SBC legitimizes all of us. When Ben Roethlisberger was tearing up the MAC and Louisville and had Miami (OH) in the top 15 in the country, the MAC got a lot of pub. Arky State, ULL, and FIU all winning their bowls could do the same. Malzahn can help too.

So, I join the chorus......SBC! SBC! SBC!

Oh, and that QB for ULL is speedy and tricky. Not looking forward to him next year. #87 had quicks too.

Tiguar. Sorry about the interpretation error about your post as to "roll ducks roll". Was it said by some Alabama fans. Yes. Were they right to cheer the cheer. No. In fact I think it was disrespectful of them to do this to their LSU comrades.

However, the SEC is the top conference and their blood boils a little different than us in other conferences. I would think that some of those very fans wouldn't do the cheer again. However, there are some fans who are not embarrased by any type of display.

In our SBC, I would hope we would always be supportive of our conference members when they are competing with OOC teams.

Thanks all for the explanation. I have no problem rooting for the conference, it just wasn't what I was used to seeing. The logic is definatly there and I love me some logic.

If Arky State wins their bowl, you think they will crack the final Top 25 poll?

Be kinda hard to leave them out at 11-3.

I can't recall the last time an SBC team was in the top 25.

I am pretty sure it has never happened.

Aside from BOISE STATE, I can't recall any team outside the BE, ACC, Big 10, SEC, Big 12, the old SWC, and the Pac 10/12 to have ever broken into the top 25.

Anyone feel like researching it?

BYU winning a NC comes to mind.

There have been plenty of CUSA and MWC teams to break into the top 25.

I'm sure there have been other MAC (Big Ben lead Miami of Ohio?) and WAC teams, too.

The SBC is finally committed to football. We will begin to rise the conference ladder. It's all about players, and we happen to be where the players are. Geographically we resemble the SEC more than any other conference.

Yeah, but when it's over, it comes to a screeching halt. then next year the Jaguars start entering in the "big time", sort of.

We've got another conference foe in action tonight. FIU vs Marshall in the Beef O' Brady's Bowl St. Petersburg.

You remember Milford Academy's star RB Travon Van? He just had a carry for Marshall.

Terribly sloppy start to the game. And I hope that the crowd is actually better than what the tv is showing. Lots of empty lower level seats. Kind of disappointing seeing as how this is close to FIU.

FIU leads 7 - 3 end of 1st qtr.

The SBC falls to 1-1 with FIU's loss. It will be interesting to see what happens with Mario Cristobal and the opening at Pitt.

Mobile native and McGill grad Adrien Cole takes the field tonight for La. Tech against TCU in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.

LaTech came up a little short. TCU got the victory.
