Dying by the 3
Northwestern's Princeton offense lives by the 3. So far against Central Connecticut today they are 1 of 12 from the arc and down by seven points. Half their attempts have been from the arc.

Threes are fun when they go in, but they should only be part of a balanced offense . . . a smaller part when your players are not as adept as others at hitting them . . . and more prominent when your shooters are good and your inside game is not so much.

Just think about this. They're one for 12 from three point range and still only 7 points behind. I'd say keep shooting them. The law of averages has to start kicking in pretty soon, and points add up when they're three at a time.04-cheers

You really do need balance. But if you can't shoot the three in today's game, it will cost you a lot of games, because most teams today have some guys that can and will shoot and make some three pointers, and if you don't it's sometimes the difference in the game.04-cheers

If you can't shoot the two in today's game, it will cost you a lot of games, because most teams today have some guys that can, and if you don't, it's sometimes the difference in the game. That's why I emphasize balance. The most important thing for any team is to do what you do best (whether twos or threes) and to try to make the other team do what they do worst.

Unless my math is suspect, which it probably is, three still counts more than two. True. You need both. Not denying that. If we hadn't shot the three well atainst La Tech, we'd have lost by a lot more than we did.
