H.S. hoops
for those who are into this kind of thing...

There is a holiday tourney at Romulus this weekend.

http://blog.mlive.com/highschoolbasketba...light.html

The highlight game is Friday at 9 featuring Romulus (with Ray Lee) vs. Detroit Community (coached by Ray Reeves and featuring our '13 verbal, Martin).

Romulus is a top team in class A and Community in class B.

In the game before this showdown, Theron Wilson jr's team plays.

I WISH I was in MI this weekend. I do remember Reeves very well and would like to see some of these top notch kids.

Curious if any EMU coaches will be there????

I don't know if we are looking at any Detroit Community '12 players.

Dennis might be able to discuss their senior class.

As I've indicated before IF Ray Lee is free of any legal issues (I believe he is) and otherwise has a good reputation (I read so from an article by his coach at Romulus) then I'd go hard for Lee.

He is a big time combo guard who could be the 'missing piece' for next year's EMU team.

RE: H.S. hoops
I always like to see players play in person rather than take someone else's word. and box scores only tell part of the story.

I remember being in Detroit probably January '92 (?).

I watched Brian Tolbert's team. St. Martin de Porres, play Southgate Aquinas led by Jon Garavolia (sp), the big guy who might have been Mr. Basketball and signed with MSU.

Great game. Tolbert had leadership, moxy, and swaggert. I remember telling coach Brian Miller that I loved his game. Tolbert showed me then what he showed at EMU.

There was a 6' 7" center EMU was recruiting hard. Great body, etc. but terrible hands. I don't think he'd cut it in D-I ball. Might have signed with Cle. State or someone like that. Don't think he scored much.

Might also mention for true recruiting fans who believe much of what they see but much less of what they read.

I believe next month a very good Mott C.C. (from Flint) will play James Still's Henry Ford C.C. team in Dearborn.

Don't know how the schedules work out, but I'd assume EMU would like to have a coach there looking at both Still and at Mott players.

Mott is a nice place to pick up a missing piece. Their players can play D-I ball.

Mott Henry Ford

As I've said previously I really like Mott's Taylor at guard.

I'm trying to get Dennis to go.
