I did something today that I've never done.
I went back to Trojan Tracker and watched the entire ORU game trying to really see what transpired. When you're watching a game live, you're normally following the ball and miss a lot of other things.
Here is what I saw in that game.

First, ORU was much stronger physically inside than we were. That we were able to stay close to them was a tribute to our grit and determination. Our big men, which includes WN and Javes, have t get stronger. By next year, I would assume they'll be a lot stronger, and two years from now they should be able to bang with anyone.
Gus will come back a lot stronger next season, so our inside play and rebounding should really be good.

Our guard play, Dre and Chucky, is by far the strength of our team.,
They make steals and make things happen when they get the ball in their hands. But they can only take us so far. We have to have scoring from the inside guys to win games, and I'm not sure that will happen this season. WN is having trouble playing defense right now and gets into foul trouble. And any game he doesn't score in double figures, we probably lose, because, although Dre and Chucky had nice games against ORU, that won't occur every night.

Taggart and Dillard are doing some nice things on the defensive end, but have given us pretty well nothing on the offensive end. Why I don't know. They were both pretty prolific scorers in high school, so they should be able to score some, but they haven't done it yet.

Lawton and Fondren are both Jucos, so they should be ahead of Taggart and Dillard, but they haven't been so far. I'd like to see Lawton get more playing time. I think we might have more offense with Dre, Chucky, Lawton, Courtney and WN. That might be a combination that can score more and Courtney and WN work inside, with WN occasionally coming out for a three point shot.

Anyway, it's obviously going to be a long, probably frustrating season,
so we had best brace ourselves for it.04-cheers
