Yep, fostering a stray...
So my wife and I saw this dog shaking and scared at the corner of Rembert and Central on Saturday. Looks like a pit-mix, 6-8 months old. Took her to the vet today, she's a got a mite infection which we're giving her medicine for but looks good otherwise.

She very very very sweet. Skittish too, but craves attention. If anyone knows someone who can care for or wants her, she needs a good home. Our house is too small and we have an older cat doesn't like to share her space.

You guys are great people. I wish I had room, but 4 is my limit and I'm at 6. But Facebook might be a big help to finding her a forever home.

So, update on this little girl. We never had any luck finding her a home so, much to the ire of our cat, we made her part of our family.

Wow, what a difference in a short time. It's easy to see she is happy and healthy from that pic. She is beautiful.

Pits are great dogs, i don't care what anyone says.

Great story. I'm a complete sucker for rescue dogs. My lab/pit mix is the best dog I've ever owned.

The Horn Lake Animal Shelter just picked up a litter of four pit bull puppies that look barely seven or eight weeks old. Sick story that broke my heart and I'm trying hard to talk myself out of picking one up next week.

Glad to hear she's doing so well. She looks great. Takes a strong person to take in a stray off the road. But you're great for doing it.

And it looks like you have a pretty nice camera, too!

A former mate owned a pit/lab (from the pound). Absolutely awesome dog. Black as coal, stronger than an ox and sweet and gentle as could be.

Yup. I had no idea before we got one. They get such a bad rap. Ours would die before he ever hurt a human.

Which of course means he sucks as a guard dog. :)

Good on you. Got five strays (3 dogs, 2 cats) of my own.

Jovie looks a little bit like Tony/Eddie, the dog that used to live on the old railroad right-of-way that runs behind Central BBQ, Dogs Rule, and down through what is now the Spanish-American War Memorial.

Next time you're in Central BBQ, look up above the cash register and you'll see a memorial to Tony/Eddie.

What a lucky, lucky girl she is. Whenever a dog or cat gets adopted into a good home, whether off the street or from a shelter, it warms my heart, but especially when it's a pit/pit mix. The most amazing dog I've ever had was a pit. Someday, when I get another dog, I'll rescue another pit. Your girl looks so happy. Thank you.
