Yes, it seems to be the case in all sports. I always think about Ty Cobb and Ted Williams in baseball. Most of your good baseball managers were journeyman players, and many never played in the big leagues.

Located in Miami with a very large campus, and with his name recognition, he should out recruit any coach in the league.

Guys with great natural talent have a hard time relating to players because the players can't do what the great player did. The guy that never played in the majors or was a marginal player can relate to most players, and had to work harder to learn the game.

I believe you're right. And Sparky Anderson is another that I don't think either played or just had a cup of coffee in the majors. Two pretty great managers.04-cheers
