Reader’s Views: ULL should not be referred to as UL

0 Comments I continue to see the students, alumni and news media in the Lafayette area refer to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as UL instead of ULL. This obviously is not discouraged by the ULL administration — and probably encouraged. It is no secret that ULL would love to actually be UL and challenge LSU for the title of Louisiana’s flagship university. When the UL system was set up, only Northeast and USL agreed to the name change with the understanding that they would use the ULL and ULM designations. I don’t know how to reverse the situation now, but it is unethical and irresponsible for anyone to refer to ULL as UL. They are not now and never will be the University of Louisiana .
