Ted Roof worked with George O'Leary back at Georgia Tech. Seemed like his defense was taking some heat this season and decided to leave before his seat got any hotter. Gene Chizik was probably in favor of things working out this way.

He still can say he had a National Championship defense under his belt. The important thing is that he knows O'Leary system pretty well. He's also a pretty good recruiter. Auburn.Rivals has an article up of shocked reactions from his recruits.

There is another Roof thread, but I'm happy he's coming to UCF. Anybody is better than Skladany!

Somebody tell the Auburn players that are upset over Roofs departure that they can come play for him in the Big East at UCF! lol

Not terribly excited about this hire. His Auburn defenses were not the cream of the crop. If he can recruit well, though, that's something...

2 of them said they were opening their recruitment back up. They both have a lot of other SEC offers...

Most of them said they were really shocked. One kid from Florida thought Roof was joking with him when he got the text.
