What teams can we get on board for '12
Let's say the BE completes it's plan and adds Navy and AFA within the next few weeks. Which of the 7 new teams, if any, could be added next year. Can they buy their way out of the MWC or CUSA. Can Navy re-work it's schedule to join early. Or are we stuck waiting until 13. I read that Boise could join, but they would have to pay a much higher exit fee. Wouldn't it be worth it to them. I predict we will see Boise in the BE in '12.

I don't think we'll see any new teams added next year.

Can't UCF, UH, and SMU buy their way out of CUSA?

UH and SMU might, I'm not sure about UCF. UCF and SMU would have to pay 7 million, UH only 500k.

Temple and Memphis to replace Louisville and cincinnati.

East Carolina and Southern Miss to get to 12.

If Cuse is staying in the conference in 2012 I would really like to see us finally get enough teams to hold a championship game by next season. We need three of the newcomers to come in and WVU to stop being a baby about things.

Why does UH have to only pay 500k, and UCF/SMU 7 mil?

Would UCF/SMU be willing to pony up 7 mil. (I think they probably would).

I highly doubt UCF would pay 7 million. SMU only might because of the infinite size of their donor pockets. If someone comes forward with the cash i could see it happening.

UH if they just have to pay 500k absolutely should do it. Would be insulting if they didnt imo.

I know UH's buyout is different because they are a CUSA charter member.

As far as 2012......I don't see anybody. If WVU refuses to play BE in 2012.....I envision lots of large payout games from the Big East which every team will be putting on WVU's tab.

It would sure be nice to play at least an 8-game schedule next year so that a 3-way tie for 1st place will a bit less likely. If Houston only has to pay $500K and if the SMU fan base has such deep pockets then maybe we can start our 9-game schedule in 2012 already!

We are about to have to spend 120 million on a new stadium, so I guess you will have to feel insulted. The stadium is a priority especial since everyone else will probably join in 2013 too.

500k? Surely you cant say you wouldnt make more than 500k extra playing a BE season? In attendance alone youll make up for it, not to mention added TV revenue and a better bowl game.

Not paying 500k to get out this year is a bad business move.

Houston's is a no-brainer, 500k really is nothing. But for SMU, even though I'm sure we have a couple of donors who could pony up 7 million, I'm just not sure if the cost/benefit would justify it.

That's my understanding too. I think all we have to pay is $500k, not sure if that also includes lost revenue for TV.

I agree with others, I'd hope my alma mater would buy its way out.

Im not sure if the $500K amount is valid if they do not give a full years notice.

Why can't you get deal done with West Virginia and use the money buy out couple teams early? like UH and SMU? SAY GET 10 Million..

use 7 million for 1 and other 3 million for the other?

We got a coupon at 7-11 off the bottom of a 40!

Skimmed this thread, and it looks like there's some questions. We owe less (500k) as a founding member than SMU or UCF (7mil). That said, we would have had to give notice back in June or July (I forget) for that buyout figure. Not sure what it would be without notice, and I suspect that's because there isn't a defined way out without notice.

The Big East should get deals done with Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and West Virginia. Between 7-10mil each, then use the money to help buyout new Big East members. It makes sense. 04-cheers
