Eagle Rising is a student-led organization with goals of bringing Southern Miss athletics to bigger and better heights. This can only start with the immediate termination Richard Giannini and subsequent hiring of a new, innovative Athletic Director with attainable goals that will propel our program to the upper ranks of college sports.

This is the main goal of Eagle Rising, and it is a change in ...leadership which is the most vital to our movement.

We wish to sponsor the hiring of a new Athletic Director who:

- Remains COMPETENT, AGGRESSIVE, and PROACTIVE with the vision of bringing our program to eventual AQ status
- Will be able to make a creative, high-quality coaching hire when Fedora leaves for another school.
- Looks to continually improve the TV deals, bowl tie-ins, and overall value of the C-USA/Mountain West alliance for the temporary success of USM athletics in our new conference.
- Performs a thorough, extensive review of the basketball program's state and provides a detailed outline on how to bring the program to life in regards to on-court play, marketing, and attendance.
- Completely overhauls the athletic marketing department and hires a staff that will use the media in creative ways to promote Southern Miss
- Dramatically improves the tailgating atmosphere (e.g. alcohol consumption, music, Eagle Eye security, etc.) at The District to that of the tradition-rich southern football school that we are.
- Is loyal to Southern Miss and truly wants to bring us TO THE TOP!

These are the goals of Eagle Rising. Together we can get it done.

The time is now. It starts with us.

Calm down. You don't have to do this. They could care less what students think. But when big money alumni get involved, you'll see what happens. Oh and by the way, they're gotten involved.

RE: USM Students Take Charge
I don't like the idea. I like Giannini and the things he has done with limited resources. People act like there are no inherent disadvantages for USM regarding any potential AQ status, including demographics and market size. Giannini has been proactive, but that doesn't mean that what you try to do will always work. The idea that 18-22 year-old, with their vast range of experience, should bring about a change in the school's AD is absurd. Now, the big money boosters and alumni have always been able to exert influence, so there is a possibility that they could cause a change, but I believe that is extremely short-sighted.

Bias against Southern Miss shouldn't be laid at Giannini's feet. It seems to me that some people are looking to blame Giannini for things that are either outside of his area of responsibility or outside of his control. He has been proactive in facilities improvement and other areas that were designed to make USM more attractive.

But ask yourself, it the Big East wasn't interested in USM, what other AQ conference would be? That's right. No one. There only shots outside of the Big East would be the ACC (not interested in USM academically, among other reasons) or the Big XII (and then only if Texas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State went to the Pac12. Even then, the conference could choose larger markets). The stated goals of Eagle Rising are not inconsistent with those of Giannini, so I don't get where the problem lies.

Richard did a good job with limited resources, I hate to see it end for him the way this is going down....
