It appears that Butch Jones will remain the football coach at UC next year.

Sources have confirmed that Jones has turned down the chance to speak to officials from schools ranging from the ACC to the Big Ten to the Pac-12.

Jones has been mentioned as a candidate at North Carolina of the ACC, UCLA of the Pac-12 and Illinois of the Big 12, but apparently has all but decided to remain at UC, where he has gone 13-11 in two seasons and won a share of the Big East championship this year. The Bearcats will play Vanderbilt in the Liberty Bowl on Dec. 31.

The UC coach is on his way to signing the most highly-rated recruiting class in UC history. The Bearcats’ 2012 class is currently ranked 26th by Rivals.com and 23rd by Scout.com. He has been in discussions with athletic director Whit Babcock about the future of the UC program.

Good for Jones. Some coaches finally realize grass is not always greener on the other side. Both RichRod and Edsall have discovered that already.

Unlike a few of my fellow USF fans, I'm also glad that Skip's name seems to no longer be affiliated with North Carolina. For all of the teeth gnashing about him, USF finished 5-7 and 6 of those 7 losses were winnable games. I like our team coming back next year and expect them to play with a chip on their shoulder. I'd love to see us do what Jones did this year - rebound from a tough season and win at least a share of the conference title the following year.

He has taken a 9-4 team with most players returning and turned them into a 2-10 team. There will be a lot of transfers out of Maryland in the coming days.

Jury is still out on coach P from UCONN, but I already sense a completely different outlook for our program. We did not have a great year due to lack of QB and WRs, but at least I like the direction of the program. Recruiting has also improved a ton (at least ratings wise) under coach P.

Schools have done it after 2 years, why not one. They were 2-10.

I'm pretty sure Edsall is basically cracking his whip on the program from his self-constructed ivory tower in Maryland now. He's burnt a ton of bridges with Maryland high school coaches and half the team hates him. I have no clue how he's going to turn that program around.

Yup. It's not just that he took 9-4 and made it 2-10, it's HOW he did it that's the bad part. Aside from all the on-field issues (lol who the hell chokes a 41-14 lead against effing NCST?) he definitely had that ivory tower mentality and was a PR nightmare, constantly blaming everybody around him and using the ol' "blame the last regime" trick and while entertaining as hell for everyone in the area that didn't live in College Park, not so amusing to the MD faithful and boosters.
