Wow! The New Big East is alive and well. This has to be one of the most enticing games for every Big East fan. I recall when UC faced WVU in the second round and WVU won on a last second bank shot from the middle of the court. WVU vs. Louisville is destined to be just as memorable. I don't know who will win. These are both two very good teams and my only regret is that both West Virginia and Louisville cannot meet in the national championship title game. Best of luck to both teams.
Go Moutaineers!
Go Cardinals!

Regardless of who wins the Big East will be well represented by a team that didn't get the respect it deserved.

Either team wins will represent the new conference well. I love this WVU team because they are extremely unselfish and plays like a team. They dont have any super athletes but the whole team is good. It should be a great match. Cards, on the other hand, has a great team too that can win it all.
Who would have imagined that in the final 8 there is no UCONN or CUSE but WVU?
Go Cards!
Go Eers!

Agreed the 'eers are an easy team to like. I have UL going to the Final Four in my pool but I gotta go with WVU since all the units they win stay within the Big East. UL's will be welfare support for C-USA--although "thems are the breaks...."

Well at this point, we are only talking one more credit, since no credits are accumulated after reaching the FF. So that isn't such a big deal.
Also, I'm not so sure the departing C-USA schools' credits necessarily have to be left behind. While it is true that 6 schools remain in C-USA, I don't believe those 6 schools have played basketball for 5 years together. What was ECU's first year playing bb in C-USA?
If it has been less than 5 years, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Louisville challenges the NCAA for their past credits earned. Of all the departing C-USA schools, the Cards seem the most upset with the conference.
And if they were to succeed in such a petition, then the Cards could turn the credits over to the BE to apply toward their BE entry fees.
Cheers,
Neil

Taken from the official CUSA website:
"EXPANSION AND REALIGNMENT CHART THE COURSE
The league’s charter members include Charlotte, Cincinnati, DePaul, Houston, Louisville, Marquette, Memphis, Saint Louis, Southern Miss, Tulane, UAB and USF. C-USA added East Carolina (September, 1996) and the United States Military Academy (March, 1997) as football members. ECU began league competition in 1997; Army in 1998 and UAB began football play in 1999. The league added TCU and ECU (1999) for all sports and they began competition in 2001. USF started C-USA football in 2003."
Makes you go hmmm--they only played 4 seasons as a BB member.
Louisville/ECU fans what are your takes on this?

I'm going to root for the 'eers on this one, since they were very supportive of UConn's inaugural footbasll season in the Big East.
It also helped that they flat out couldn't stand BC. :D

I want to see West Virginia win because they are the underdogs and because they haven't been to the final four since 1959 when Jerry West was there.

I'm torn. I love this Eers team and in my heart, I'll probably root for them.
But my head says that the Cards have the better chance of winning the NC (right now UNC, Illinois, and then UL would have to be the best bets).
I wouldn't mind hearing, "The Big East, home of the last three NCAA men's basketball champions" next year.
Cheers,
Neil

Louisville will win, then lose to Arizona in the Final Four. Arizona will then lose to UNC in the finals.

We started playing football in CUSA in 1997 but we didnt start playing basketball in CUSA until 2001 so we have only been playing CUSA for 3 or 4 years. Thats why we have been struggling because we came from a one bid CAA to a power conference. We had some pretty good wins andd have made alot of strides but we have been pretty inconsistent. We all are hoping Stokes can bring us a since of pride to our basketball program. Hes already hitting the recruiting trail hard trying to get us some big men. If you watched USCs game against UNLV they talked about the ECU USC connection for about 5-10 minutes some big press for our basketball team.

I wouldn't mind seeing 'Nova put a dent in the Heels' plans tonight, but probably a little much to ask for.

It’s more import for West Virginia to win than Louisville. I’m not worry about Louisville; they already have good reputation in basketball. We need a few more football schools to excel in basketball. This would increase the number of football schools playing excellent basketball. Maybe this would put WVU in the unbalance schedule group next year.

If washington was the best the pac-10 had to offer, sheesh. I'll take Louisville any day of the week against AZ.

I think UL rolls....everyone focuses on Garcia, but in my opinion Dean is the key to this team....He is always knocking down 3's especially at key momments....Good run for WVU, but I think it ends tomorrow.
