Cigars? Anyone?
I started up in New Orleans in mid July. Have been hooked ever since. Any other cigar smokers here?
What type do you smoke?
I dig Oliva V, Brickhouse, CAO Gold...

That is nice. I just ordered a box of Benchmade, which is made by Ashton. Its the leftover leaf cuttings. Its is a fine, fine cigar for under 3 bucks a stick.

I probably would if I knew anything about them. I don't know what makes good/bad or what to look for.
Although, I did have the chance to smoke a Cuban while on my honeymoon out of the country earlier this year. It was mighty nice.

Picking out a good cigar is no different than picking out a good anything else that you don't know anything about. If you find yourself in need, go to a good tobacco shop and ask the owner.
Cigars are one of those things, like most hobbies, that people who are passionate about them love talking about them, especially with the uninitiated.

I don't smoke them as often as I once did, but still enjoy a good one from time to time. Up until a couple of years ago, the oldest tobacco store in the state of Tennessee was located in Murfreesboro, sadly they had to close a a few years ago.
Had not previously heard of Benchmade, will have to keep my eye out.

I have a friend that was able to get his hands on some Cubans for the NO Bowl. I have only had one in my lifetime but I remember it was really nice.
Stay away from the convenience store crap.. Swisher Sweets, Hav A Tampa...all garbage.
Like Pi Kap said, go to a cigar store. Ask the owner whats good for newbies.
It can become an expensive habit, so watch out!!

I had a rocky patel the night before last in memphis on Beale Street on the way to the arkansas state game. Tasted a lot like a Perdomo. I used to really like them but to me they have a really strong black pepper/leather taste. I still enjoy a nice strong manly stogie such as those, but I prefer sweeter smokes like the Tatiana brand, especially the Waking Dream (whiskey, hazelnut, and darkchocolate infused). Maker's Mark Bourbon infused cigars are also really great.

The Quorum is also a great cigar for under 2 bucks. I comes close to the quality of a six dollar stogie, not quite, but close, and blows the rest of the under five dollar maket out of the water.

Like the Maker's Mark cigars, but not for the price.

Never had flavor infused cigars..It is my understanding that you either love em or hate em...
On a different note...what do you pair with your smokes??
Im a borderline diabetic so I have to watch my intake of sugars but man a good tawny port, kicks ass...I like Frangelico as well. A good dark beer is great..
When I am on the road smoking, I will grab a Monster Recovery Energy drink. You get em at convenience stores, they come in Tea and Lemonade, and Tea and Raspberry... Very little sugar..Tastes great with my CAO Gold.
Y'all have a great week.

Well, I have never been a smoker but have tried a few cigars. While I was in Bahrain for a few weeks, I picked up some Cuban cigars for my promotion party. I really enjoyed both...a Habana and a Romeo y Julieta. You could really tell the difference between them and the same name brand but from other locations. If you can get some Z, you will enjoy them after a decent dinner and a cold adult beverage.

Enjoy them while you are there......now I don't want to hear about you in that country bar on Bourbon that has the bull riding machine. I am not going to tell you how I know about it but for some reason the bull goes really slow, front to back, side to side whenever a young lady is on it. I believe that I....err....I HEARD that some women get just a touch excited when they are on it. Of course I would know nothing of that, being a fine Christian boy. Best you stay in the hotel, get a good night's rest, and drink a little soda pop!!

Maybe someone with better cigar knowlegde than I can clear this up for me...A Romeo y Julieta is not a Cuban, but rather a Cubano style, right?

it is a style but the one I got was made in Cuba. Something about the tobacco that sets them apart.

Definitely a whiskey drinker. Bushmill's 16 is one of my favorites for a dram that's expensive without being crazy expensive.
Also a big fan of stouts and porters. My favorite recently is the Brew Dog paradox, it's their imperial stout aged in 1987 McCallan Sherry casks. Haven't paired one with a smoke, but I imagine they'd go together fantastically.
