does any one understand what SEC is trying to acomplish with C-USA vacating thier spot in game.
what difference does it make if LSU wins or loses CCG.
IS SEC trying to work Tex A&M into bowl game.

A&M is part of Big 12 bowl tie-ins. Don't think LSU's result matters either.

As I understand it, goal for Liberty and Birmingham bowls is to make sure a Big East-SEC bowl matchup occurs. If it can't happen in Birmingham, the goal is for it to happen in Liberty. Sun Belt falls into the equation, I think, if Big East vs. SEC happens in Liberty because Sun Belt would pick up spot in Birmingham vs. C-USA.

RE: liberty bowl
that the way I understood agreement.
C-USA board is saying LSU wins, C-USA is out, LSU loses, C-USA is in, which is what confussing me.
TexA&M could fall in at-large pool, tought SEC would help with matchup
texA&M-vandy in Liberty or
texA&M-Cin in Bir

Louv got no shot at memphis
BCS or Charoltte

The Belk Bowl seem pretty firmly set on taking NCST, meaning that UC won't be selected as the Big East rep for that game. The only way I see UofL ending up in the Liberty is if Rutgers is selected by the Belk Bowl and UC is picked by the Pinstripe bowl. UofL would then get picked up by the Liberty.

I think the more likely outcome is UofL to the Belk, Rutgers to the Pinstripe (that would be a guaranteed sellout), and UC to the Liberty.

I believe a saw a tweet by the illustrious Brett McMurphy somewhere around here that pretty much affirmed your projections, Grad07, assuming a UC win this afternoon. WVU in the BCS, UL in the Charlotte, UC in the Liberty, Rutgers in the Yankee.

Trust me it won't sell out. Its the literal definition of small time. There are plenty of diehards like me who will travel for away games all over the place that won't go to it. Not when a "decent" ticket (it still is crappy as are all seats for a football game at Yankee Stadium) is $160 and the truly god awful seat is $90 plus they'll charge like $50 for parking. Besides I don't have that kind of money anyway but you better believe for a Liberty Bowl, Belk Bowl or BCS Bowl I'd find a way.

The top ticket to the Belk Bowl is $225 and the only tickets under $80 are in the upper deck. When you factor in the cost of flying and a hotel room the Pinstripe Bowl is a much better deal for Rutgers fans. If we don't bring the same 20k+ that Syracuse did last year that is an absolute embarrassment for the program.

I bet if i showed up at the Belk Bowl and lingered around the stadium wagging my finger in the air for a ticket i could get a decent one for $15 an hour before kickoff.

Would you fly to Charlotte and stay overnight by yourself to loiter around the parking lot for a cheap ticket? In terms of opponent and location the Pinstripe Bowl is the Big East's best bowl after the BCS bowl and the Champs Sports Bowl, at least for RU fans.

Oh i bet i can get a cheap ticket to the Pinstripe Bowl lingering outside Yankee stadium, too.

But to me, a bowl game should be a road trip. Unless it's a BCS bowl, it sucks to have a bowl game in your town. What's the point?

Give me what you are smoking. Potentially the Pinstripe Bowl can have a better opponent then the Belk Bowl or Liberty Bowl, I'd say Missouri is more desirable opponent then Vanderbilt/ Mississippi State or NC State, but what if it's Kansas or Baylor or Iowa State there?

Anyway I agree with quo that a bowl game should be a reward for a "good" season, a chance for the fans and players to spend a few days in a nice area. Now I'll give you that NYC is a great city to visit, but if I'm coming in from out of town, say Texas or Missouri or whatever, I'd much rather be making that trip in either the Spring or early Autumn.

I don't know, I have to go to Charlotte for work from time to time and it doesn't seem like a hot vacation destination to me.

not that it matters at this point, but had LSU lost, there could have been three SEC teams in the BCS, thus the SEC would not have had enough remaining bowl eligible teams to fill all of their bowl slots.

Baylor would be a good fairly high profile opponent for the Pinstripe Bowl, Mike. RG3 would draw an audience...

Apparently Pitt doesn't want to go to the BBVA Compass Bowl.

McMurphyCBS
Source: Big East told Pitt its going to BBVA Compass Bowl but Pitt resisting because went last year. Now up in air

Other possibility is Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl.

Big East should tell Pitt if it doesn't a yearly trip to Birmingham they should win more games and increase their traveling fan base beyond a point where they all fit in a VW van.

Realistically though, maybe Pitt vs FIU in Tampa and CUSA vs Sun Belt in the BBVA.

I think the team that finishes LAST in the Big East should be sentenced to play in the BBVA Compass Bowl.
