What has happen to the Beavers? OSU started off the season 5-0 and since the lost to USC everything has gone down hill. I hope the Beavers are able to pick up some conference wins and get to a bowl game.

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Arizona State sacked Derek Anderson seven times for 75 yards, including the last two plays of the game, as the Sun Devils held off Oregon State 13-9 Saturday night.

The Beavers drove to the Arizona State 9 in the final minute, but Alfred Williams sacked Anderson for a 6-yard loss, then Josh Amobi got him for a 17-yard loss.

There were 19 seconds left for a final play, but game ended before Oregon State snapped the ball.

Anderson also was intercepted three times as the Beavers lost their seventh in a row to the Sun Devils and 15th straight to ASU in Tempe. The last time Oregon State beat Arizona State at Sun Devil Stadium was 1969, nine years before the Sun Devils joined the Pac-10.

Mike Barth, who missed four field goals a week ago, missed a 28-yarder and had a 53-yard attempt blocked, but he made a career-long 50-yarder and another from 46 yards as the Sun Devils (5-2) improved to 2-0 in the Pac-10.

Andrew Walter connected with Hakim Hill on a 46-yard screen pass in the third quarter for the game's only touchdown.

Oregon State (4-3, 0-3) managed only three field goals by Kirk Yliniemi.

The Beavers nearly pulled it out after Anderson connected with Steven Jackson on a 28-yard play on fourth-and-7 at the Oregon State 48. The Beavers moved to the 9, but Anderson's pass was deflected, then he was sacked twice and the Sun Devils escaped.

Oregon State rushed for just 9 yards. Jackson, the No. 2 rusher in the Pac-10 entering the game, gained 58 yards in 14 carries.

Walter, who threw for 888 yards in his previous two games, managed just 14-for-34 for 186 yards and was intercepted twice. Anderson completed 16 of 40 for 224 yards.

Hill took the screen pass from Walter, dodged a tackler, then followed blockers down the sidelines to put Arizona State ahead 10-9 with 10:08 left in the third quarter.

The Sun Devils drove to the Oregon State 1 on their next possession, but on third down, Hill fumbled out of the end zone at the goal line for a touchback. Two plays later, the Beavers' Dan Haines was stripped of the ball by Jason Shivers and Arizona State's Josh Amobi recovered at the Oregon State 37. Barth's 46-yard field goal put the Sun Devils ahead 13-9 with 3:50 to go in the third.

The Beavers led 6-3 at halftime on a pair of 37-yard field goals by Yliniemi. Yliniemi's 47-yard field goal on the first possession of the second half put Oregon State ahead 9-3.

Barth's line-drive 50-yard field goal made it 3-0 with 9:19 to play in the first quarter. It was the longest field goal for Arizona State since Jon Baker's 51-yarder against Stanford on Oct. 23, 1993.

Referee Jim Fogltance was injured when he was hit in the head by Jackson's helmet midway through the fourth quarter. He lay motionless for a time before being helped to the sidelines.
