Luck(in my opinion) has been working behind the scenes to get out of the Big East well before cuse and pitt. These recent comments (ship going down) along with their stance on leaving the big east next year is in stark contrast to cuse and pitt who are at least honoring their committments to the Big East. Noone faults WVU for leaving, it's the way they are leaving(insisting on leaving in 2012 and making disparaging remarks about the big east) that is disgusting but not surprising given the quality of the individuals in power positions at WVU. These men(luck being one of them) are of low character. Any fan who supports Luck lacks intergrity.

No one hates him and he can be as frank as he wants to be but so can we. He is being unprofessional and shows little class. West Va was bent out of shape over the way Rich Rod left W. VA. Now W. Va's way of trying to leave the Big East isn't much different. What makes W. Va's obligation any different then Pitt's or Syracuse? How do you agree to join another conference the next year when you know that is contradictory to bilaws you helped to formulate? Total arrogance and the W. Va president went along with it.

as a proud graduate of wvu, i support the oliver luck & the administration at wv. do i agree with everything he states; absolutely not! but at the end of the day, i want wvu to move to the big 12. i attended wvu in the days when we played penn st, pitt, bc, syracuse, va tech, & maryland..things have changed way too much. i associate wv with those type of schools. am not saying we ate better than any of the remaining schools or the incoming schools..its about surviving. luck is making the best decision for wvu. i am not privy to the info that he has access to but i am willing to go on some faith that he knows what he is doing. i definitely dont condone him bashing the BE. it is totally unprofessional but we dont know the whole story or facts. there is more than meets the eye. louisville & cinci admin has been very quite as of late..somethg is brewing imho. i all i can say 4 myself, is that i wish the BE well & i think that at the end of the day yall will be & remain an AQ. We may not know all of the facts, but what we do know to be a fact is that the BE has a 27 month notice to leave the conference. Another fact is that SU and Pitt said that they will honor that notice.Another fact is that WV does not want to honor such a notice and that they feel that they are somehow more special than SU and Pitt. We dont know all of the facts but we do know how to follow the rules that we helped to create.

The legal process will work and Ollie will either be vindicated or end up looking foolish. It will be great theater.

Actually being "frank and open" is not a great quality for a person in his position. There are times when it is better to mince your words and not always say what you are actually thinking....You do not have to lie but you do not have to be brutally honest to the point that you say more than you probably should on certain topics.

Also I would imagine that the General Counsel for WVU would prefer him to be a little less "frank and open".

Every once and a while "frank and open" can be refreshing but at some point it turns into something entirely different and he as one of the more visible officials of WVU starts to be a polarizing figure for WVU from a public perception point of view.

Very true...as its almost unheard of in the world of collegiate athletics where leaders always seem to be walking on egg shells when talking to the press.

I haven't had any problems with Luck stating his opinions on the league as long as he was part of it, but now that his schools is gone he should stop bad mouthing it. I bet he wouldn't be thrashing the Big East had Louisvile been the big12 choice and WV was stuck in the league.
Anyways he will find out very soon that his candor won't be taken kindly in the big12 and that Texas is not going to let the WV AD become the mouthpiece of the league and what it should do. He is gone from a big fish AD in a little pond to a little fish AD in a bigger pond

Carlos, I don't think he's bad mouthing the conference. The conference leadership is another matter. It could stand a good bit of critique. In any conference other than The BEast, Marinatto would have been fired long ago...

Any resemblance to the football conference WVU joined in 1991 ceased to exist the moment Pitt and Syracuse accepted ACC invites, and it's the conference leadership's fault...

Now the major conference are talking about scrapping the BCS, or eliminating AQ status altogether, allowing the BCS bowls to pick and choose who they want among the top ranked teams. The BEast champion has always been the last team chosen for their BCS bowl, and without AQ status there won't even be that bid most seasons, if there's any justification for avoiding it...

WVU is merely positioning itself to maintain the program, and compete at the highest level. The folks at WVU felt that was no longer possible in The BEast, due to incompetence in The BEast front office, and IMO they're justified in their thinking. The BEast has missed the boat in every move it made. The BEast's only mission has been to survive, and they've been a miserable failure at it. Every move the conference has made has been a reaction to some disaster that could have been prevented...

I'm going to miss seeing WVU play you guys. But I'm not going miss having to always having to defend The BEast to my friends. I'll be glad to see the end of that...
