No playoff. 2 teams in a championship bowl with or without current BCS or go back into poll and bowl.

32 team playoff, every conference gets an automatic bid. Bowl games for everybody else.

On a side note, the ten year anniversary of that quote is Friday.

YES! to a playoff. If it works for NFL, FCS, NCAA Div II, NCAA Div III, NAIA, Junior College, High School, Pee Wee League... it'll work for FBS. Those who say it won't are simply fooling themselves. And yes, 16 is the proper number.

I hear the SEC will soon go to 16 and then push for a 16 playoff consisting of the top 12 SEC schools and 1 each from B10, B12, ACC, and Pac 12.

At least we would have a quality playoff.

With a 16 team playoff, LSU would be resting its starters tomorrow and Alabama would be resting its starters against Auburn. I don't really see how that's good for college football.

The best idea I have seen for a playoff is six teams, with the champions of the four highest ranked conferences (worked out with some formula like the currently do the BCS) and then two wildcards from any conference. The five game playoff could be played at the sites of the current BCS games.

This year you'd have LSU (conference champion) and Alabama (wildcard) with byes, and Arkansas (wildcard) vs. [Michigan State] and [Oklahoma State] vs. [Stanford].

Virginia Tech gets left out because the ACC is so weak and they lost. Houston gets left out because their schedule was so easy.

That's assuming Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Stanford, and LSU win their conference championships. And if LSU beats Arkansas, but stumbles in the SEC Championship game, that will throw a big monkey wrench into the works...

That's why I put those teams in brackets while Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas were not, since their inclusion should be all but guaranteed.

But imagine the chaos if LSU would happen to lose the SEC Championship game. I doubt it will happen. But it would be amusing to see all the pundits start pushing their personal favorites...

This is a nearly perfect system in my opinion. When there is BCS championship controversy it's usually only between the top 5 ranked teams in the nation. Such a system would remedy any controversy.

Absolutely. Every single varsity sport in college athletics at every single division has a playoff----except FBS football. Time for them to get with the program.

RE: We Want a Playoff
I suppose I'll be the guy that disagrees with the CFB playoff theory. My reasons for this position are

1. I understand the CFB is a form of entertainment and as currently designed the FBS system is entertaining to me.
2. I believe a playoff is just as arbitrary and contrived method of determining a champion as the current FBS system is. A playoff determines an artifical goal of playing well enough the qualify for said postseason. Once there records, be they exectional or marginal, are zeroed out, thus effectively creating a new season.

RE: We Want a Playoff
We want a FAIR Playoff. If your conference has a championship game, it gets a bid. Pretty simple.
