Bet you Tom Savage is rethinking his decision to transfer there.

RE: Rich Rod Hired at Arizona
Can he leave and go to another FBS school without having to sit out another year? He didn't actually play or dress for any games. If he can, then he needs to transfer as soon as the semester is over. If he can't, then my bet is he winds up heading back East to play for a CAA school.

Not sure. I'm assuming he'd lose another year of eligibility. I agree he may very well end up in 1-aa now.
Shame he left. I think it was shortsighted of him to leave the program after we hired Cignetti. He would have had a better opportunity with the pro-style offense.

RE: Rich Rod Hired at Arizona
Savage can transfer to an FCS school without any loss of eligibility. He might as well. He probably won't see much time in RR's system as a QB, unless he's willing to run. From what I remember, he wasn't exactly what you'd call mobile...
However, it's going to take some time for RR to get his players in place. But Arizona isn't going to turn into an offensive juggernaut overnight. It's going to take a couple of seasons...

Tom Savage is not the type of quarterback that RR uses. Tom would be better off coming back to a FCS team like Delaware to play.

RE: Rich Rod Hired at Arizona
I agree with you, RUfan. Savage would do well to come back east, and Delaware wouldn't be a bad place to go for him. They could use his arm, if he's finally got his head straight...
cfbfan, I kind of doubt RR comes back home to coach again, unless things don't pan out at Arizona. I think he learned a valuable lesson from his short visit in Ann Arbor. I think he'll stay at Arizona, if he experiences the kind of success that he's capable of reaching. It sounded like he's ready to settle down, and stop moving from job to job...
Arizona isn't a bad place to be. I've always liked the southwest...

I don't like this hire. I think Rich Rod would be better off to have considered a school in the east. This is a money grab. I don't see him being successful in Arizona.

I don't know how much success he'll have, but it would have been tough to find a BCS job that is more off the beaten path geographically and media spotlight wise. With plenty of late night games for the EST, if you aren't in the top 3 or 4 in the PAC-12 you're pretty invisible on ESPN.
He wasn't in a position to be picky, but he will be given plenty of time in Tucson and he isn't working with much facility wise or with a natural recruiting area.

UA's starting QB and backup were seniors. Savage and a RS FR QB on the roster have also announced they are transferring, so only 1 QB from this season will be on the roster next season.
Savage transferring closer to home in PA
