Thanksgiving Day belongs to the NFL. It is that Friday after Thanksgiving that is the real plum. Pitt has been playing on that day for years - first against Penn State and now against West Virginia - and I LOVE that date! Hopefully we're able to maintain it with WVU even when we are both playing in different conferences.

It would be very difficult for fans to get to Lubbock on a Thanksgiving night. Halloween weekend is when Texas should be playing Tech in Lubbock.

So, one year we play Tech at home on Thanksgiving then the next year play Tech in October.

The off years we play a Baylor or a TCU which they should be happy for the exposure they get from playing a national broadcast on Thanksgiving night.

ESPN wants to broadcast Texas. Texas will always be the Thanksgiving game and if other teams want the extra exposure they will accept a rotation where Texas always plays at home.

Yeah, I don't see what the big deal is. This isn't a case of UT getting what they want. This is a case of everyone getting what they want.

Really? I would think TCU would be PO'd at this. Your fans are in Fort Worth and would pack AC for a Thanksgiving game. There is no argument like there is for Tech that students/fans wouldn't show up. Why do their fans get to make a short drive every year on Thanksgiving but your fans never do? Why do 3 other Texas schools have to bend over backwards to please one? Particularly when that one is trying to make sure this game is at home every year so they ALWAYS have the rights to it so it can fall to their private network every year so that your fans have to buy it if they want to watch the games?

Yes, they're trying to exploit you, but why make it so easy for them?

I'm with you on this.

Texas needs one Thanksgiving opponent, and they need to go home and home, just like it has been. None of this rotation crap.

Seems like Texas and their ESPN side-kicks always want special treatment. Never mind the smaller teams looking for exposure...I am not sure the Longhorns needs any special exposure showing them getting led to the wood shed every week.

"and it should always be that way because that's how it should always be" what a joke of an institution Texas has become

When Deloss announced that UT didn't "have room" to put A&M on the schedule, I was a little excited about having Tech-UT on Thanksgiving Night. It only makes sense. The 3rd largest fan supported school in the state replaces the 2nd largest and everything is good to go.

Then I see this post and hear what Deloss is trying to pull and I want Tech to have no part of it. 1st, like many have mentioned previously, a good portion of our students come from the DFW area. I live in Ft. Worth but have family in Houston. Trying to make it to Houston for Thanksgiving and then that night in Lubbock isn't going to happen. Hell, Houston to Austin is doable but not anything I'm dying to attend. Tuberville mentioned getting rid of early dismissal that Tech has right before the Thanksgiving holiday to keep students in town. Might work but I don't have enough faith in that scenario.

Bottom line is that A&M and UT had 80-90 years to brainwash their faithful in attending a Thanksgiving Night game. Personally, I hope Tech-Baylor continue their game in Arlington on Thanksgiving weekend, TCU schedules SMU for that weekend and make Texas go find someother scrub to fill there Thansgiving Thursday Night game. After all, they are the DRAW. Shouldn't be hard to find a TX State, UTSA, Rice, Sam Houston to come to Austin on Thanksgiving Night.

I bet ESPN is drooling over those possible matchups. Congrats again to Missouri and A&M for doing what Tech, OU and OSU didn't have the abilty to do, get away from the evil empire down in Austin.

So you call these fine institutions 'scrubs'? Come on now, why be such a jerk?

I will assume sarcasm in your post. If not, would you want UH to whore itself for a Turkey night game in Austin without a return trip to Houston? I think we both know the answer to that.

Deloser will never play UH and I sincerely hope Tech AD Kirby Hocutt tells deloser to get loss on his rotational basis.

Deloser( AKA JeffutWhorns) say UT is the main draw? Without Tech, Baylor and to smaller scale TCU, who will watch UT on Thanksgiving?

Most UT T-Shirts are headed for the border anways. Aggie fans will be watching the SEC. Hopefully, Tech-Baylor continue their series in DFW. Who will watch UT play sisters of the poor in Austin just so deloser can try to be the Dallas Cowboys of NCAA football?

Nobody really had or has clout in the Big East, even now. It is a chaotic mess where nobody agrees on anything, so nothing ever changes.

Oh teams had clout in the Big East, it was just never the teams that also drove the revenues. Providence had clout. Seton Hall had clout. Teams like West Virginia and Louisville? Not so much.

Perhaps if West Virginia had changed its name to "St. West Virginia" or "Our Mother of Morgantown," your fate may have been entirely different and you probably would have had all kinds of sway.

I can smell that BS from here.

Sorry, Texas has decided that WVU will go to Austin every Thanksgiving. Also DeLoss doesn't think your quaint lil rivalry needs to continue. Sorry Pitt, WVU has to obey it's new master.
