BE SERIOUSLY GOING DOWN

Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but Oliver Luck is a jerk. (In fairness, you could end up being right for all I know. In the meantime, I'm just chalking it up to mere speculation. That's all it is right now on both sides of this whole issue.)

I take the speculation from someone who's actually a part of the situation and has sat in on meetings over some random twitter feed or blog.

Not to nitpick or anything, but have you ever seen me post anything from Twitter or a blog on this board? If and when I post something newsworthy, I try to make sure it's an actual news article. (To your point: Yeah, Luck does have more credibility in that regard. But it also looks like he'd be willing to sell his soul if it meant he got to get a better parking space.)

whoops.... meant to quote Maize...

Even though he comes off as an arrogant prick in this article, a lot of the things he says is true. I cant imagine the Big East being anywhere near as good as they once were but on the flip side I cant imagine that this will be a good long-term decision for WVU. As soon as they start having subpar seasons they will be questioning this move. The ACC and SEC is where they really wanted to go. To bad for them they wont get the chance.

It has no bearing on the point...but yes he is. That fan base is deserving that AD, they're a perfect fit.

RE: Gazette-Mail: Bowls don't want BE
Bowls want teams that sell tickets. Bowls are the one thing that TV market doesn't matter for. They want to invite teams with large traveling fan bases that are going to fill their stadiums, stay in hotels, and spend money. The BE doesn't have any teams left who do that on a consistent basis outside of Loserville currently. The new rumored additions have a few that would do this. BYU certainly does, and the academies usually will, but the majority of new and current BE teams don't. So I can certainly understand why bowls wouldn't love to have the 3rd or 4th BE choice and would much rather have the 7th B10 or 8th SEC because any of those choices will bring fans for sure.

You guys got the programs that counted in great shape at exactly the right time and will reap the rewards for those efforts.

Well done and congratulations. Good luck in future years and I'm sure that you guys will do well in your new conference home.

Thank you oldtiger! You know the reason for all those interesting exchanges was because you guys have a damn good basketball program, and dominated us during the DeAngelo years. I was jealous!! So jealous that I took a bet I knew I wouldn't win out of pride.

As much as I'm happy for everything going on right now with the Coogs, I know that most of the programs in CUSA are equally as worthy of a bigger platform. Like many, I feel CUSA has made strides this year toward being that platform. We have made a lot of progress. Three programs this year are legit Top 25 material. Our game with Tulsa this weekend will have me on edge all week.

I'll still be around and following the Tigers and everyone else. CUSA has a bright future... as does Memphis, my friend.

@Pioneerloft Yes, he's directly involved in the talks. Not someone giving me second-hand information.

If I told you that, he'd no longer be my source. But it's high enough. RT @Pioneerloft: @TheDstauff what is your source on BYU to Big East?

SOURCES: Deal with ESPN and BYU sorted out, BYU plans on moving forward with Big East. WILL have basketball schedule considerations. #solid

04-cheers

BYU, so far, has declined because Big East wasn't OK with BYU having its own TV network.

If BYU is out, then AFA and Boise State are out too.

Three days old, but no new news, so far.

I don't think BE will ever compromise on separate TV deal for BYU, and BYU isn't going to budge and give it up, either.
