I attribute their talent slides to the bleeding of the Northeast recruting grounds to the Big Ten and ACC thanks to their departure to the Big Ten 12 years ago, and BC's departure to the ACC this year. If both were in the same conference with the the Big East 8 the Northeast recruiting grounds would have alot less players bleeding out to the midwest and southeast. The last two PSU classes seem to be very good, but I don't see them having the success of the past as long as they're members of the Big Ten. They used to be pretty decent in Basketball too in the A-10, not because they bled the talent out to the midwest but because the talent stays in the Northeast and to a lesser extent the ACC.

You know...I notcied the EXACT same thing and so I checked on ESPN.com by school to see if that was correct and sure enough, it happened. Heck, ND didn't have a player chosen until the third round, and many thought that was too soon for the Giants to take the kid.
Pretty interesting. UConn, a 4th season D-1A program had two kids selected and PSU had NO ONE! Now don't get me wrong, I'm still a huge Penn State fan at heart sicne I was raised on them, but it's interesting how they've fallen. Regardless, I'll be sitting 40 yard line on October 9th when PSU hosts OSU. It's going to be nuts!
"Where's my UConn Icon???"

-- I couldn't agree more Brista...this is just another area where the loss of Penn St absolutly killed us...it opened up the East to Big 10 recruting....In the old days western PA was pretty much the home ground for Penn St, Pitt and West Virginia...now other schools did come in and take a player (Joe Montana to ND) but for the most part if you were a player in that region you want to one of the three....Now it seems like when WVU recruits in that area we go up against Michigan St, Iowa and Indiana more then we do "eastern" schools....this past yr a RB out of philly final two was Purdue and West Virginia...Purdue recruting in Philly? That would have never happened before PSU left
-- I know since the Big 10 has entered our recruiting area WVU has adjusted by hitting the recruting trail in the deep south again...right now WVU has more kids from Mississippi then NJ which would have been unthinkable 15 yrs ago...I don't know what Pitt has done to evolve but I am sure they have had to do something given the changes in recruiting in the east
