The major problem with the playoff idea is that a small playoff is not inclusive enough, people will just complain about the teams that did not get in and should have. If they make it inclusive enough then your very top teams are having to play too many games in a year.

How do you explain the teams with the most blue chips having the most injuries over a season because they are playing three or four more games then lesser teams?

If you are a blue chip going to play college football in hopes of making it to the NFL, are you thinking that playing 16 games for Alabama in a year is better then playing 13 for Florida?
