VCU Uses Strong Second Half in 70-41 Win Over UMBC

VCU, which picked up its fourth win in its last five games, improved to 2-0 at home this season.
The Rams went 12-of-31 from 3-point range, including 9-of-17 in the second half. Their 12 makes were one shy of the school record, which the team already set earlier this season in a win against UMKC on Nov. 20.
VCU had three players score in double figures for the fourth straight game. The Rams also reached the 70-point mark for the fourth time in their last five outings.
Atwater dished out a career-high seven assists, while junior Zakia Williams also collected a career-high six assists.
Pellechio, who leads the nation in 3-point field goals, knocked down a game-high four from long range.
VCU allowed a season-low 41 points against UMBC, including 19 in the second half.
The Rams have outscored their opponent 91-48 in the second half of their last two games (both wins).
WHAT'S AHEAD: VCU travels to Coppin State on Saturday, Dec. 8 for its seventh road contest in its first nine games of the season.
