RE: Official Game Thread: Creighton
MD has always had a dynamic, play-making leader and point guard (Delaney and AJ) to mask his somewhat (in my humble opinion) stagnant and slow offense. Can we still succeed without this type of player? Or will JT step into that role? I don't think QT will this year. I think he should come off the bench in favor of JT. The team just looks and plays better when JT is out there.
Do we need to play our bench big men more? We are extremely thin and outsized without our beef out there. I agree with the other poster that said we should start either ASW or HH, just to give us some muscle down low and let cam and ovie play in their real positions..

I think tonight's game can be summed up in one word: O'brien

How many turnovers did O'Brien have? I don't have the stat sheet in front of me

Well, I was referring to the fact that if we would've had another big guy, we likely would've won. If we had O'Brien, we wouldn't have to feed the ball to Ovie and Cam so much, thus cutting down on the number of turnovers they had. They're both fine in the post, but I have to think O'Brien is one of the better post players we have, if not the best, simply based on his size.
There's no doubt we had a lot of turnovers, but having O'Brien definitely would've helped.

O'Brien would have helped...but I think his presence would come in at about #7 on the list of things that would have made a difference...I sure don't think his name sums up the game at all

So true. So true.
If he turns out to be Frank Holmes O'Brien I would be very happy.

I think Davis needs to rethink KC Whitaker's role. Id rather see Purifoy out there shooting ( and rebounding and playing Defense) than this youngster. Also, I wish he had put Robert Williams in more- he is a good defender and has a decent outside shot as well. Beas could have been used sparingly ( maybe while that Pink Shoes monstrosity was playing the post against us) to let Cam have a breather. Lastly, I am impressed with Jecore's tenacity and speed. He just needs to be more careful with his fouls. Quincy needs to step it up, significantly. Last night, Soko looked like his game matched his jersey number. All in all, a very very disappointing start to the season- we got beat by a team that was clearly superior to ours in many respects.
