Thoughts on Missouri & Texas A&M?
Outside of the obvious from the ECU fans, what do you all think of the SEC adding Missouri & Texas A&M? Honestly, other than geography, I see no real value in adding either school.

Houston, Dallas, St. Louis, and Kansas City is the reason why you add those 2. Its not about level of play, its market reach and potential. Unfortunately this is the law of the land right now.

This was the best thing to happen for the Hawgs. Arkansas has had a hard time recruiting the state of Texas ever since we left the SWC. Now the SEC has a team in Texas. So we should improve our recruiting. As for Mizzou. I wish they were in the SEC west division. They would be a solid rival for Arkansas. The state of Missouri provides another good area for the Hawgs to recruit.

St. Louis and KC have never been college markets. You honestly think they'll start watching now that Mizzou is in the SEC? 01-wingedeagle

I do. The SEC has quickly become NFL light. If Mizzou ends up having a 9 or 10 win seasons in the next few years. I would look for those markets to have a increase in veiwership.

I think it'll be a good move, two big time schools in two big states. I do wish Missouri was in the West and we could pick up Auburn however.

Is New Orleans a college town? Of course they watch college sports in St Louis. We know how to separate Saturdays from Sundays, and by the way, Missouri is on fire over joining the SEC. Of course I am from St Louis and U are not...04-cheers

Hell yeah! You have to realize, there are many more professional sports programs in STL and KC. The only ones in NO are the Saints and a basketball team. The Saints, up until a few years ago and when Brees and Payton graced it with their presence, consistently sucked while LSU was always up there competing. There isn't that much land between BR and NO. I'm not saying they won't fit, it'll just be a learning curve. The SEC focuses a LOT on defense and even the past 2 years we sucked, our defenses were still pretty good. Our offenses just sucked *** and our coach didn't know if he wanted a pro-style or dual threat and seemed like he didn't know what the hell he was doing. The only times we've EVER been successful is with a pro-style (Eli, Snead, many others in the past).

I think it'll be easier for A&M, but they have a tradition thing that's gonna hurt'em, something that you don't have to worry about. You gotta get your fellow expansionee to get some f'n female cheerleaders. Damn! Dudes? Seriously? Male "Yell Leaders" doesn't exactly invoke "Southern Belle", if you know what I'm saying.

Sorry Reb, the Yell Leaders are never going away in favor of traditional cheerleaders. If you've ever been to a game at Kyle, you'll understand why. 30K students chanting our Yells in unison at the top of out lungs is an awesome spectacle that no human pyramid or "Give me an "A"!" will ever replace.

Now, as for the gender issue, the Yell Leaders are male by tradition but not by regulation. They are elected by the student body and any A&M student can run, including the female students. I believe that eventually tradition will give way and a female candidate will win election, but she will wear the same, traditional uniform the guys wear and not some tight, sexified version. In fact a female student, Samantha Ketcham, has filed for candidacy to run for Yell this spring. From what I understand, she has a pretty good chance of being elected.

All that said, there IS a big push right now to get the Aggie Dance team on the sideline at Kyle. They are not cheerleaders and will not do anything but be nice, southern girl eye candy for the crowd and the cameras...so cheerleaders but cut to the chase! 02-13-banana

I like the fact that A&M has yell leaders. It's a little odd but it is very unique. A dance team would be a great idea.
