Hah well Mizzou will have a much easier time than A&M since they're going to the East division. They'll only have to play LSU, Alabama and Arkansas every other year. The Aggies will be getting it served to them every season by those teams.

I have been impressed with the Big 12 this year though, a lot of really solid teams that have overachieved (from an outsiders point of view).

I hope the pokes can win out and bring a national championship to the conference.

Pick us, pick us, pick us.

Big 12 (10 teams) + NIU + Louisville = AWESOME 12 Team Conference!

Big 12 needs to penetrate the Chicago market, so much better football is played in the Big 12 than the Big Ten and the Big Ten gets almost all of the Chicago headlines. That needs to change.

Go Big 12!

KU definitely needs to pick it up in football. Gill appears to be a genuinely fine person, and he's done a good job in recruiting despite having little on-field success. But they have to turn it around in a big way and soon. The offense showed some improvement, but even accounting for losing their defensive coordinator to illness before the season began, the defense has been dreadful.

Gill did a good job at Buffalo, but obviously the Big 12 is a whole different beast. Gill is a good guy (of course he is, he went to my high school) and I hope he can get it done at Kansas. However, it has been a bumpy road thus far for him in Lawrence.

Gill's not the first of that ilk that we've had. Terry Allen was a fine coach at Northern Iowa, but he couldn't replicate anything near that success in the Big 12. It's not as deep as the SEC, but it's a tough conference. In addition to OU and UT, we've had a lot of programs like OSU, TT, aTm, and Missouri be good, and Bill Snyder usually has KSU ready to play. KU has some advantages such as recently updated weight room and football facility, but it's an uphill climb to consistency. Even Mangino really made his reputation off of one outstanding season where it all came together - otherwise, he was piling up non-conference wins and picking up a few in-conference wins here and there.

They're few and far between, and they often head for greener pastures as Barry Sanders did.

RE: Big TOP FOOTBALL CON 2011 (GILL MUST GO)
Since when did Oklahoma have more green than Kansas? I've been to both places, and Kansas is greener. Oklahoma has more money, because of the oilfields. But it sure ain't greener. I lived and worked in Bartlesville for a while. So I know where I'm coming from...

Well, as you alluded to, there's more than one kind of "green". But at the time he left, it's not as though KU was a compelling in-state choice, and it was before Snyder turned around KSU.

You want to miss the color green? Try moving to New Mexico. There's some beautiful country there, but I see more green out of my office window here in KS than I'd see in an hour of driving down there.

One of my favorite places in the nation is New Mexico's Painted Desert, especially at sunset. You can see every color of the rainbow. The area around the Sangra de Cristos is great too, if you like arid country. I enjoyed it...
