Poor shot selection and terrible shooting. Totally dominated on the boards.

We did have less than 10 turnovers.

Neighbour, after starting 0-5 with early game jitters, looked like the real deal. Haven't had a big man as talented as him since Carlos Rogers. Javes showed flashes and one day will be a dominant big man in the Sun Belt conference.

Tulsa is a very good team. I had little expectation of winning there. Sunday's game against a pretty good Northwestern team should tell us more. Then a real test against IUPUI Tuesday. Our team is obviously a work in progress. Should be fun to follow the progress as the season moves on.

We lost contact at the 5 minute left mark of the 1st half and they came out and stepped on us in the 1st 4 minutes of the 2nd half. So game over.

Their team had a couple of bigs that had been together longer and we looked like what we are, which is a bunch new faces.

I still found some hope. I still think we will be salty by conference. I found it interesting that Jackson played as many minutes as he did. He had a hard time rebounding against the large bigs. He will have better luck against the teams that we play from here.

Our twin towers will rebound better too as they get used to d1 ball. Tulsa had a lot of blocks against them.

Watching on the radio you can never tell about the guard play.

We should hold a size advantage against nwst.

Box score

Tulsa had 14 offensive rebounds. That is 14 positions that we made them miss and they got it back.

We forced 9 more turnovers than they did but were out rebounded by 22 boards.m while bad. I think joe can teach them to rebound and I the Jackson is a rodman like rebounder, that will improve.

The box score on Yahoo had us outrebounded by 22. That's bad enough. The box score on the UALR site, which I assume is the official one, had us out rebounded 56-27. Not sure I've ever seen a UALR team have less than half the rebounds than the other team. Obviously there is more to rebounding than just size. Javes and WN will learn. Courtney will always give us 100% effort. Surprised Marlo only played 4 minutes, but that may be telling with regard to the rotation at this point. With Javes considered ready to start the first game, he will only get better.

Obviously rebounding and shooting were the points that have to be addressed. They will be.

I guess we can say Neighbour is for real?

His pure talent is evident. There are only small number of UALR players that the first time I saw them on the court, I said to myself this kid is going to be big time. Carlos Rogers, who ended up being a lottery pick, was one for sure. Joe Stephens, who played a year or two in the NBA, may have been another one. Neighbour has all the tools. Probably has to get stronger, learn to use his height better, and improve his defense. But, I would say the sky's the limit.
