Wait until you see how corrupted high school football is. 05-stirthepot

PSU is screwed, over 20 kids now have claimed that they were "diddled". There are bound to be many more, his "charity" program has gone on for years. ESPN has turned into CourtTV... erhh... TruTV.

Now Syracuse is in a "dilemma" about whether to play Penn State or cancel the series. I just want to flash forward two years when we're in the ACC and all these shenanigans are behind us. "Time heals all wounds".

I'm referring to the media attention football is getting this season.

Well said Joey. I completely agree. I find it much harder to get interested and excited about the games like I normally do. Even with WVU finding a safe landing spot, all the chaos has really been a downer for sure.

All the realignment rumors have really turned out to be a major distraction, especially for those of us effected. It's made it hard to keep our attention on football, and the daily changes of every rumor had fan's moods swinging radically up and down with every tweet. Is it any wonder that football has taken a back seat to realignment this season?

The good news is that - hopefully - once the BE finishes up its plans, we can all figure out where we are going to be and get back to enjoying our teams. I just hope that everything can happen quickly and there aren't multiple lame-duck years.

There is no dilemma. It would be assinine to consider cancelling the series let alone actually do it. Last I checked Cuse has played in a predominantly Catholic conference and did not leave when that scandal hit the media. Penn State administration will be completely different in 2013.

RE: Is there even a 2011 football season
For me it has been hard to get as excited about FB this year with all that has gone on. The only pure excitment I have had is watching my son enjoy the WVU/LSU game line and him subsequently becoming a true Mountaineer fan - meaning his heart has been broken twice since. He was already a big Memphis fan.

Totally agree, Joe.

I enjoy the realignment stuff as much as anyone, but at least last year it rarely took away from the actual games. This year, it's been all-consuming if you're one of the schools affected. It's been hard for a lot of fans to concentrate on that week's game when they're concerned about where the heck they're going to be playing next year.

Now, the Penn State case has made realignment seem trivial and the games themselves even more meaningless. Granted, I still love watching and when there's a huge game (like Bama-LSU last week), I always get up for it, but I can't remember the last time that there have been so many major off-the-field issues taking attention away from the games on the field.

As long as Pitt forgets it's football season this weekend (assuming Louisville remembers), I'm fine with the diversions.

Yep. Just my own team, and I call it a Saturday.

RE: Is there even a 2011 football season
we need to stop being enthralled in all this realignment crap. i hope there are major changes in the bcs, time for a plus1 playoff 1vs2 to determine a champ. boise could be 2 , like tcu last year and lsu 1, must play do determine the best team. the reason they against it is because they don't want the little sisters of the poor spoiling their gravy train.
