ESPN again trys to tarnish the BIG EAST
In their Power Conference Rankings they now have the BIG EAST behind the MWC & C-USA. Now I wasn't into the ESPN/Destroy the BIG EAST conspiracy but now I am starting to believe it.

The fact of the matter is the BIG EAST according to the BCS Computers is the 6th ranked Conference and very much ahead of the Non AQ Leagues. Here is the ESpiN article below and I will also post the actual BCS Computer Numbers with links. This is ridiculous!!!!

Big East falls again in conference rankings

The Big East has now been jumped by two non-AQ conferences in the latest ESPN Stats & Info conference power rankings, and sits in eighth place.

Conference USA moved ahead of the Big East and into seventh place on the strength of two ranked teams -- Houston and Southern Miss. The Mountain West already was ahead of the Big East, which now is only ahead of the Sun Belt, MAC and WAC.

What obviously hurts the Big East in these particular rankings is only having one team in the Top 25 -- Cincinnati. West Virginia fell out of the rankings after losing to Louisville. Outside of Cincinnati, everybody else in the Big East has at least three losses. Southern Miss and Houston are a combined 17-1. No. 5 Boise State leads the charge for the Mountain West, and TCU is coming on after a slow start to the season.

Well - it's hard to argue with it. USF and Pitt are not good. WVU is struggling. UofL is stepping up but they have too many losses. Rutgers is trying. UConn and Cuse are average at best right now. UC is holding up their end of things but they are beating the average teams in the Big East to do it.

Here is the problem, according to the only system that counts-(The BCS Computers) it isn't the case.

When you report "opinion" as actual fact you are making the news not reporting the news.

I say we because it has been the case since the conference raid in 2003, but we should be completely expecting it and used to it by now.

This is why the Big East invited the teams it did, it should have made this move years ago.

The only teams that would help it that is invited are Houston and Boise. And sad to say the BCS points that those two have this year, only apply to the conferences they are in. By time they get to the BE, who knows what shape those 2 teams will be in.

Just saying.

This comes as no surprise here. ESPN has always been down on the Big East. The problem for them is they had to suck it up because of the strength of one or two teams a year, our Bowl record and the strength of our BBall schedules. Then of course we said we would rather wait before signing a new TV deal and that was the last straw for ESPN. It has been open war ever since. 05-stirthepot

Everybody loves bad mouthing the Big East. College football has way too much politics and money. At least college basketball has a tournament where everybody has a chance to play in.

ESPN is like Fox News or MSNBC. They have an agenda and spin sports news the same way right wing and left wing talk shows spin political news.

It's pretty clear the Big East is #6 this year despite our average teams, and I'm not suprised by anything ESPN reports.

Big East has more depth IMO...We can get 6 to 7 teams into bowl games. CUSA does have 2 solid teams but after that it drops off alot IMO...If you go by top 25 rakings then yes they have us...Teams like Rice, UTEP, Tulane, UAB are no where near as good as Uconn, Pitt and Syracuse. ESPN needs to get lost.

Yep. I mean I still watch ESPN and ESPNews for SportsCenter, the Herd, and the Scott Van Pelt Show, but if they keep doing that crap, I may just watch CBS Sports Network and *gulp* the Tim Brando Show. (Not that it's a bad show or anything, but he just doesn't have the same style as Colin Cowherd, SVP, Jim Rome, or even Mike and Mike.)

Afraid not. If the evaluation ends this year, the points fall to what conference they are officially tied to. I'll try to find the article and post a link here. Someone had it on the realignment board not long ago.

So Boise might go to the BE, but because for the 2011-2012 season their BCS points would be accredited to the MWC, because they did not play in the BE conference at that point.

It's an interesting read.

Here's how the points work. I'm still digging to see about the conference affiliation. I don't see how the Big East can claim Boise State's BCS points for 2011 when Boise State didn't play in the Big East, I would think those points would be given to MWC. I'm wanting to say I read it somewhere and I'm going to keep digging. If I'm wrong, I'll admit it.
