Big 12 5th best conference? LOL they are the 2nd at times 3rd best conference...I told you Depaul is more of your taste. Jurich has already came out and said that Louisvilles options are open so you should get your facts straight...We are not commited until we get the right schools to join...Even then I don't see a strong commit because we will still have the worst TV contact of all the major conferences...They are saying 8-10 million per school at the high end...Low end is probably 5-7 million per school. Why would Texas & Oklahoma leave when they run the Big 12 and make better money doing it their way? Leaving rival ties would be bad buisness for those school....I think they know that now.

But until than we are in the BIG EAST and need to make this the best it can be.

We cannot make the BE the best it can be while trying to get out of the BE. Jurich & Ramsey will have recognized this and will have committed to the conference beyond what you Big 12 fans want them to.

I predicted all along that it was premature to say UofL was gone to the Big 12 in this last round. I am even more adamant now that UofL won't go to the Big 12. Ever.

We can be at the center of geography & influence in the 6th-best league or we can be an outlier and nobody in the 5th-best league. Before the media rights agreement expires in a few years, we'll once again be subjected to rumors of OU's & UT's move to another conference. When it finally happens, the Big East will be better than the Big 12, and without the domination of any single team (or pair of teams).

Jurich realizes this, even if some of you don't.

Not so sure about this especially after the mad scramble that happened just before WVU got the nod.

Many insiders-(including Jurich Mouth Piece) Howie Lindsey are saying we are still talking to the Big XII.

Well, while we are talking to B12 or not, we demand a spot on East Division and block all eastern schools like Temple, Memphis and ECU.

When we leave which I don't think it is likely, I recommend Memphis takes our spot. I really want to see Big East do well even after we leave. I Also think setting up a good West Division is the key to the future success. Those eastern schools can wait while UConn, Rutgers and us consider the next move. But without expansion with western schools, there will be no Big East tomorrow.

If Navy really is starting from that premise, then they have already decided against joining. Because there is no question in anyone's mind (anyone who is paying the slightest attention) that Louisville and Connecticut are both doing precisely that.

If Navy and AF are wavering, its not because they think the think the conference is too unstable. That could be a factor, but I think the main reason is that they fear they would not be competetive. Who wants to be 2-10 every year? That could happen in the majority of years if the acadamies play in a BCS conference. Due to thier recruiting limitations, they may struggle to keep up.

RE: If Navy & AFA don't come, who's to blame?
I am going to assume that one of the conditions for the new teams to join is that everyone will be signing their TV rights away to the Big East for at least 6 years just like the Big 12 just did. With that assumption, nobody is going anywhere.

Having been in the same conference as Bevo for 20 years, I still do not understand the fixation with being their whipping boy, and if you say money, then you are not paying attention to what the new Big East may be receiving in the new contract. I am afraid WV is going to find out first hand that the best they are going to ever do in Football is finish 3rd.

I agree with this. I don't think it is the only reason why the deal hasn't been done yet, but it is a significant part of the overall picture.

Eh, maybe. I guess it depends on whether or not Navy considers "6 years" = long-term stability. I don't. But it's not my call.

And anyway, let's wait and see if all the members of the BE really do sign such an agreement first.

Quote:Having been in the same conference as Bevo for 20 years, I still do not understand the fixation with being their whipping boy, and if you say money, then you are not paying attention to what the new Big East may be receiving in the new contract.
You can't seriously think that what UCF/Houston/etc. are going to get in the BE will be comparable to what WVU gets in the Big 12, or what Pitt/SYR get in the ACC.

As for being one of the b*tches in Bevo's harem, I agree I don't see what the great appeal of that is, either. But one thing the last decade has taught us, most of these Div. I colleges and universities simply and plainly Do Not Give A Sh*t, just so long as the check clears. That's not how I would run the ship, but it is how they run theirs.

Quote:I am afraid WV is going to find out first hand that the best they are going to ever do in Football is finish 3rd.
That may well be true. WVU has surprised me before [cough-sugar bowl-cough] so I will wait and see on that. But you may be right.

I think you're correct on this. We have entered the middle game of realignment chess. WVU, Texas A&M, Missouri, Pitt, and Cuse were the "exchanging of material" to open up the board for the endgame. I speculate that the endgame is 16 team super conferences. It stands to reason that the big conferences want more BCS slots. In order to get them, they have to consolidate the conferences with AQ status. The Big East is screwing with them by inviting teams that will actually strengthen the BCS rating. That just won't do, and they will move to nip that in the bud shortly.

Its not a horrible confernce, but I dont really see whats in it for the existing remaining members of the Big East. Seems they would be better off adding 3 from the northeast (maybe Temple, ECU, and Memphis) and cutting the pie only 8 ways.

Good point smallvoice.

Also, not sure the Big 12 will stay together.

When UT, OU, OSU decide to part, the BE should be in a good spot to pick up KU, KSU, ISU and the fourth could either be taking back WVU back or pick up Baylor or Memphis (which hopefully would have made some progress football wise). TTech will either go with OK group or be UT's crutch.

Huh? Boise's not balking. What's a Louisiana Lafayette fan doing stirring the pot over here?

i disagree about key to BE is west div, after Boise & BYU, what out there that eastern schools don't offer.
If thier is any more defections, A strong west div would splitt & 3 eastern schools would be done & lose AQ
it's the BE, BE needs strong eastern presence complitmented with western schools

Not trying to stir the pot. Don't have a dog in this fight.

There are concerns here that might not get resolved to Boise's satisfaction, and if they choose to not move, it's not hard to see the whole deal fall apart.

However, as I posted, a very nice conference could arise from the ashes of Big East football. Only, the Big East football schools would have to finally split because the new lineup would have to be all-sports for it to fly.

If I were you guys, I would have had enough of all of the politics of the current situation and would want to make a conference that works for all involved.
