RE: Should the MAC replace EMU with GVSU
The problem is that D-2 schools are starting to get scared because of the number of NAIA schools that have dominate programs making the jump to D-2 level. The conferences that are getting nervous are the GLVC, GLIAC, and the one that Azuza Pacific and Cal Baptist may join. GLVC and GLIAC are nervous because their dominate schools may end up losing championships to the newbies. Ohio Dominican made the jump recently and Olivet Nazarine in Bourbonais, Illinois (home of the Bears summer camp) may make the jump in the next couple of years. ONU is dominate in all sports in the NAIA conference they are in.
If you drop EMU from the MAC, you can say goodbye to all automatic qualifying in a number of sports since the NCAA requirement is at least six teams in a championship.

WTF..... does Tiffin seat 9000?...I'll wager that Findlay and Tiffin don't draw 9000 for a season COMBINED....they probably average 700-800 at Tiffin and maybe 1,000-1500 at Findlay.

That's what I was thinking!!! Donnell Stadium in Findlay and Tiffin Stadium probably can't hold more than 2,000 people. LOL

WMU- 6,772 Probably a decent number of WMU fans.
Ball State- 3,288
None of these games pased GVSU's attendance low. Sorry EMU that is reality. We would rather have a D-1 calliber team than a D-2 team.
Thanks for reminding me why I was so happy to see EMU beat WMU.
I'm watching BG/NIU right now. There might be 2K people at the game. You act like EMU is the only MAC school with attendance issues. The reality is that EMU is the only MAC school that reports actual attendance. The other MAC schools use creative counting every year.
Dumping EMU does not suddenly boost the MAC to BCS level.

As far as I can tell ALL MAC schools are creative with their attendance figures. It looks like EMU alternates having Pepsi buy discounted tickets in years where attendance is counted.
As for BGSU/NIU having 2k, that is just a silly comment. When cameras frequently show the visitors side games always look under-attended.
Below is the average attendance at EMU football games for seven of the past eight years, according to NCAA attendance figures:
2010: 15,885
2009: 5,016
2008: 18,951
2007: 7,448
2006: 14, 734
2005: 5,219
2004: not available
2003: 11, 258

RE: Should the MAC replace EMU with GVSU
I think the OP was saying GVSU drew 9,000 against Tiffin...not that Tiffin or Findlay drew 9,000...why ANYONE would think Tiffin draws 9,000 and hinders BG's attendance is beyond me.
