Well, from his perspective as a USM fan, it is a negative. He wants his school, not BYU, to join. I'd rather we get BYU but i can't begrudge him his desire, nor act like my POV is really what is best for the conference.

Well, from his perspective as a USM fan, it is a negative. He wants his school, not BYU, to join. I'd rather we get BYU but i can't begrudge him his desire, nor act like my POV is really what is best for the conference.

Actually if you read cusa board. His hope is that Boise and byu turn down the big east and that the remaining big east teams go crawling to join the alliance. It's more of a hope that the big east dies

I see. But no, sorry, i do not read the CUSA board, only this one. We have enough on our plate over here as it is to start dragging stuff over from that board ...

So many of the USM fans are negative and nasty. You can't say that about ECU or Memphis fans.

I've made ONE negative comment about the ACC since this whole realignment thing started. But I don't bash the ACC non-stop, every hour of the day. Those USM fans are relentless.

You should listen to USM fans talk about USF to each other. Im not sure UCF fans hate us as much as they do. Their level of jealousy over us getting the BE invite in 03 just eats them away inside. Their forums were having a meltdown when we were ranked #2 in the BCS.

They are a very jealous and angry fanbase.

Well I think it's just because their feeling left out and they are. part of it is that they haven't made a case for themselves this year and thank God USF is already in or we would probably not get in either.

I think they like many of us just need to step back and regroup a couple days before returning. by the way, +1 for not going into a total rant.

I have no interest in ever having my school associated with southern miss. Our stay in cusa and dealing with their fan base was not something I want to relive

Same here.

I was never very happy in CUSA for many reasons, but one big one was the fact we were on the northern frontier of a southern conference. I am not a southerner and my lineage is not from the south. Places like Hattiesburg and Birmingham don't excite me much.

That's one reason I wasn't super happy about TCU or now Houston/SMU. I understand WHY, but not happy about it.

USF and UCF being in Florida are a different thing, because of the huge northern diaspora living there.

Anyway. No Southern Miss.

Dallas & Houston are a far cry from Southern Mississippi. I would imagine the fan experience in either of those cities will have little in common with what one encounters in Hattiesburg.

Only made it to Hattiesburg once for a basketball game against UC.

Once was one time too many.

Texas is not the south. We are very arrogant that way.

There are hot girls just about everywehre if you look hard enough.

But in terms of taking in the experience on a roadtrip, it was awful. Sitting in an empty, ancient, high school gym named after the Red Green Show didn't help matters.
