This came up in a conference realignment thread, but I thought it was a pretty clever idea to start referring to yourselves East C Pirates.

Obviously, East C, sounds like East Sea. I also just learned that ECU fans are really proud the of East in their University name, so why not over-emphasize it?

East C University, educating East Sea Pirates.

Anyway, just a thought from a Gator fan. If you don't like my clever branding attempt, I apologize ahead of time.

We're proud of the East in the name of our University, but the East doesn't fully explain who the Univiersity represents and seeks to service first. Eastern North Carolina is a section of the state that is oft-ignored (outside of the money making beaches) by the uppity turkeys west of I-95. That's who the Univeristy represents, and the plight of ECU has mirrored the BS that folks who live down east have enudured.

You can't just change the name or say it differently. East Carolina University is an integral part of eastern North Carolina. It's who we are.

I think you misunderstood me. I'm not suggesting you change the name. I'm suggesting that you refer to yourselves as The East C.... sort of like Miami calls themselves "The U" or OSU call themselves "THE Ohio State" or Mississippi refers to themselves as "Ole Miss".

I think The East C is a clever way to say East Carolina.

You can even play football in the East Sea because your stadium is shaped like a C. Plus you're pirates! You should be in the Sea/C.

I think ECU represents all the middle class people of NC not only of Eastern NC. Since we are referred as the "Lower School of NC" with no education and other stuff by those in "The Triangle"

Not going to lie, I think it is a pretty cool idea.
