RE: USF vs UCF next year?
You could make some noise if you win some of those games. Start proving you belong in an AQ by beating OSU. That would be a huge win for your program. Plus, for all of USF's faults, you KNOW we would beat them in a situation like that. 05-stirthepot

So Pitt and K-State cancelled next year. I knew about Pitt because Ohio State is replacing that game. I was hoping we would be dropping Akron.

Pitt cancelling, that's a done deal, but all I've heard of K-state is that they have considered cancelling in the past.

If these deal fans out our OOC schedule looks to be:

@OSU
K-State
FIU
@USF

Not a bad OOC if you ask me. For once we aren't playing an FCS cupcake team, and that's an OOC SOS better than USF's 2011 OOC schedule 05-stirthepot

Im not opposed to this game. We would only have to leave florida once OOC if this happens, a road trip to Ball St (I cant believe we gave them a return game, esp when UTEP isnt getting one 03-puke )

other OOC thus far is a FCS school, @Miami and vs FSU

Kansas State's AD was quoted in their local newspaper recently saying that as long as the Big XII has a 9 game conference schedule next year (i.e. they either keep Missouri for 1 more year or get WVU early for next season), they'll cancel the game @ UCF. Kansas St has 4 out of conference games scheduled for 2012. 3 are at home, and 1 is @ UCF. If they play a 9 game conference schedule, they only have room for 3 games out of conference. They said they'll cancel the @ UCF game and keep all of the home games.

I don't see any way that the Big XII plays with only 9 teams next year (i.e. Missouri is allowed to leave while WVU is not allowed in for 2012), so I would count on K-State officially cancelling the game @ UCF very soon. We will need to find another home game for 2012. Hopefully that's USF. If that can't work out, though, look for an FCS team to fill that slot.

Figured as much 03-lmfao You guys gave them a pretty good game last year.

Hope you guys got paid reasonably.

Yes, we pretty much shut their offense down the whole game last year except for 1 long drive at the end of the game where they scored the winning TD with under a minute left to win 17-13. It was a standard UCF heart-breaker that have been far too many to even begin to recount.

The buyout for K-State cancelling on us is said to be $500,000.

I found the article:

http://campuscorner.kansascity.com/node/2198

"K-State athletic director John Currie said he was unsure which scenario will play out. But he is happy with the Wildcats' upcoming schedule either way.

"We have four nonconference games under contract, because we still have Central Florida under contract," Currie said. "If we have a 10-team league with nine conference games, then we'll be playing the three home games we have under contract. If we lose somebody than we have Central Florida under contract and we'll go on the road and play them.

"So I'm not really doing anything on scheduling for next year right now."
If K-State does not play Central Florida next season, Currie said the Wildcats would likely buy out the return game of the series for $500,000. K-State defeated Central Florida in Manhattan 17-13 a year ago.

"We would prefer to play the game, and we've been working with them for some time trying to figure out how to move the game to a future year," Currie said. "But if that's not possible, we will have to buy out the game."

Ding!

I don't get the "emo" fans of today.

Rivals always hate each other..regardless who they play.

UF fans do not CHEER for Georgia when the Bulldogs play their non-conf games.

FSU fans do not CHEER for Miami when the Canes play their non-conf games.

TEXAS fans do not CHEER for A&M when the Aggies play their non-conf games.

MISS STATE fans do not CHEER for Ole Miss when the Rebels play their non-conf games.

BAMA fans do not CHEER for AUBURN when the Tigers played their non-conf games.

Hence why one of the oldest bumper stickers/t-shirts used for rivals (Example for a Bama fan) is "My Favorite Team is ALABAMA and my 2nd Favorite Team is whoever is playing AUBURN!"

I like that, I am going to use it in my sig, My favorite team is UCF my second favorite team is anyone playing USF!

I have a question, when will the sig show up for my profile. I put a picture in there along with the phrase but my sig doesnt show up. Do I need to be at a specific level before it does?

You guys missed my point. I am not saying buy USF tickets. I am not crazy or stupid. I know that for UCF it's much better to play a USF team that has beaten UF, FSU, Miami. So for THOSE games I will be pulling for USF.

Bulls fans, is it better to play and beat a 9-1 UCF team or a 1-9 UCF team.

As a new BE member I want ALL members to do well! For example, today I will be pulling for Louisville to beat WVU.

B/C most of us have spent the better part of the last 8 years defending our AQ status to the "rest of the world" (even when we had four ranked teams in fb and shouldn't of had to). Now, for the record, It's a bit selfish, but we want each other to do well OOC so when/if we beat each other it "looks better" to the outsiders. I root for all BE teams vs OOC.....and will do same for UCF, Houston, Boise, etc once you're in.

If USF was supposed to be @TCU and UCF is losing a home game thanks to K-State, that game is going to be in Orlando. It may screw up the pattern thus far, but works out best for both teams and then UCF jumps into the conference schedule @ USF the next year.

Thank you Bearcats - I know if any BE team beats an SEC or ACC team it's good for the whole conference. Will Bulls fans really not support UCF against Ohio State?

It would be nice to start the series in a neutral site... But don't think a reasonable one exists. And you can't really call the Citrus Dump in Orlando a neutral field.

I won't be pulling for UCF against anyone, and i don't expect UCF fans to do any different for USF.

I don't think I'm being emo when I say that I hope the nastiness will die off a bit in favor of a more genuine, spirited, respectful rivalry. We have the most to gain by working together. UCF and USF should be mutually supportive of each other both athletically and academically and recognize that UF and FSU are our actual enemies - the two universities trying to hold down our institutions.

Not saying I'm going to sit around pulling for USF to win every game, far from it, but I'd rather they do well for the BE (which helps UCF) than not. You're right on the UF-Georgia comparison, but there were plenty of UF fans hoping UGA would beat Boise State.

I did understand your point clearly...and its obvious that you didn't understand my response.

My post had NOTHING to do with buying tickets...my post only had to do with the hatred rivals feel for each other...which goes from in-conf to out-of-conf games.

While it might look better on paper or even in some computer ranking that UCF be 9-1 when USF plays them vs 1-9, TRUE RIVAL FANS NEVER EVER EVER cheer for their rival school...including out-of-conf games!

Bama fans WANT Auburn to go 0-12 every single year!

Ole Miss fans WANT Miss St to go 0-12 every single year!

Ohio State fans WANT Michigan to go 0-12 every single year!

Florida fans WANT Georgie to go 0-12 every single year!

RE: USF vs UCF next year?
KnightLight,
I didn't say that your post said anything about buying tickets. I just meant I wasn't pushing for extreme support of USF. You are mentioning SEC schools and B1G schools. If any of those teams go 0 -12 it won't reflect on the conference. How would it reflect on the BE if USF or UCF or UConn or Rutgers went 0-12. Would UCF get any credit for SOS? The BE gets enough crap from the other AQ's. I just don't understand why you wouldn't want to be in a really strong Big East and beat a ranked USF. By the way if USF goes 0-12, do you honestly think that won't hurt UCF's image? Like it or not the best thing for both schools is to support each when they are playing top opponents like Florida, Florida State, and Miami, Ohio State, etc...

I'm sorry but I'm a true UCF fan and I don't want USF do go 0-12 because the perception will carry right over to UCF. How many times have you seen somebody mix up the USF/UCF names.

Notre Dame said they won't overlook UCF.

Ohio State just said they won't overlook USF. ---I am trying to find the link again. I thought it was funny because of thats what ND did to USF.
