Hair said that one reason was so that MWC and CUSA wouldn't try to poach each other's schools. That makes sense. If it was a free-for-all you could easily see CUSA trying to replace departing teams by inviting UNM and others.

None of the new teams can join until 2013 the earliest, so how is it the thing to let those schools leave the BE early? That is blinded and makes no sense.
